s36350 Well if you are aiming for appearance with the first ship you could at least make it symmetrical.

The second one wont be going any where fast (unless spinning in circles count). But maybe that's its goal?

I haven't made a broadside ship in a long time, so is there anything I should change? yes, I know it is slow.
(its called BIP for broadside in progress)

Oneye I just ran it against a big gun only, compartmentalized broadsider, and it did a lot of damage to your ship.

First, I would not bother with small cannons, go with the big cannons. Your engines were taken out very quickly, leaving you unable to move. (BIP is the top ship, broken in half)

Remove the battery packs and place energy generators instead. Put the energy generators and ammo manufacture towards the center of the ship. Put the crew quarters between the guns and the ammo/energy generators.

Oneye Maybe fewer reactors?

I think I mentioned this some time before in this thread when the topic of broadsider design came up. If the ship is expected to only be taking damage from one side it requires a lot less power.

Reactors are actually a big structural weakness (easiest way for the ship to get blown in half) so having fewer reactors can actually make a broadsider a significant amount stronger.

hmm, standard cannons work really well on walls, but I guess not so much on broadsides.
And Equalizer I'm usually the one to go with very little reactors, but again that is for walls, not broadsides apparently.

Oneye They would work on a wall, because your always pointing that end at the enemy and going forward.

A broadside ship usually keeps its distance, and switches sides occasionally. I found that with most of your engines gone, my ship would use its longer range weapons quite effectively against your ship.

Equalizer Yeah, you were giving me pointers on making a good broadsides. I believe it was this post where we had the discussion. (I just looked, it was 17 days ago. Scroll up until you find it.)

Please help me improve my ship... it has pretty thick armor and a lot of fire extinguisher so its not easy to get destroyed but my problem is firepower... it lacks weapons and i cant think of a way to add weapons while making it still pretty tanky and cheap... i'd prefer if the improvements isnt very costly because i use this ship in bounty hunter mode. it used to be a model-L ship but i slowly improved it.

VIKTORJUDE here is my improved version. image https://i.imgur.com/7EuR3dz.png I added missiles, moved the cannons from the sides to the front to concentrate your firepower. I also split the ship into sections for efficiency (cause clumping reactors is bad, even if you have a lot of armor) and added more thrusters as well as an internal thruster bank to help it back up and strafe. Sadly it is 100k more expensive, but it can kill 4 (almost 5) of the original back-to-back (both on normal ai) before dying. I also made sure to add an FTL, cause I usually forget when making ships for bounty.

DH50 You don't need those missiles at the bottom which means you don't need those ugly internal thrusters and it needs paint. 😃 hope this helps.

DH50 Some comments:

It appears to have very little reverse thrust (stopping will be a problem). Assuming you keep the internal thursters you could add matching reverse thrusters to the forward ones.
Both the front and the internal 'spikes' are very fragile and are unlikely to last long in battle. Spikes are often just made out of solid armor since they need to absorb so much damage. Alternatively, heavy shielding is needed.
Place crew quarters closer to where the crew need to work. A lot of crew are needed to run missile launchers and the crew have a long way to walk to get there. This will cause a long delay till the missiles start being reloaded. Same goes for recharging the center shields once they start taking damage.
