After the Great Chaos, the Galaxy was split into thousands of isolated fragments. One collection of planets which managed to maintain their alliance formed the Governance. Their primary mission is to rediscover and reunite all the fragments of the old Galactic Empire.
Tiered Class Ships
Low level ships are classed by tiers. Without specific specialisations beyond their Hull (Scout, Explorer etc.) Small ships are organised by a numbered tier structure representing their overall capabilities.
Class 1 Scout - Midget

The Class 1 Scout is the smallest class of exploritory vessel and is not intended for combat.
Scouts are primarily non-military, their intended goal being to gather data on unexplored space as efficiently as possible. Therefore, their emphasis is on speed.
Class 1 Scout - Piercer

The Piercer, while still classed as a Scout, is outfitted with a powerful Ion beam to enable it to act as support for larger vessels.
Class 2 Scout - Brunt

The Class 2 is larger in size and armament than the Class 1, but is built along the same principles. The Brunt is more focussed on firepower than other Sub-classes.
Named Class Ships
For the most part, the fleet is made up of Classes which describe the overall emphasis of the vessel's design.
Brilliant Class Scout

The Brilliant Class specialises in Speed and Sensory reach.
Consummate Class Scout

Consummate class vessels specialise in investigative missions with an emphasis on analytical functions.
Halcyon Class Scout

Halcyon Class vessels focus on diplomacy, with more interior space given over to comfort and a lesser emphasis on offensive capabilities.
Exquisite Class Scout

The Exquisite Class aims for a balance of functions, favouring no individual systems. They are often larger than other Classes.
Exemplary Class Ships
The Exemplary Class is the military class, with a heavy emphasis on battle readiness. Uniquely it contains a number of sub-classes, each with their own specialisms.
Exemplary Class Aggressor

The Aggressor's main focus is on weaponry and secondarily on manoeuverability. With relatively light armour and shielding, it is commonly used to attack larger vessels en masse.
Exemplary Class Bombarder

The Bombarder has a strong emphasis on offensive capabilities, and shielding, sacrificing maoeuverability.
Exemplary Destroyer

The mainstay of the fleet, the destroyer has an emphasis on weaponry and defense, but it small enough to be fairly agile, making it the most cost effective vessel for large scale combat.
Exemplary Devestator

A heavier varient of the Destroyer, the significantly increased armourment makes it a force to be reckoned with. Some manoeuverability is sacrificed due mostly to the increased mass.
Exemplary Class Obliterator

The largest and most powerful ship in the fleet, the Obliterator has a heavy emphasis on firepower, overwhelming most ship's defenses.
Stations
Military Stations are usually static, but also carry an array of defensive weapons. They are usually built to purpose, and don't fit the normal classifications.
The Fortress

The Fortress is designed to withstand attack from multiple directions, and in its later iterations, is formed of multiple rings of weaponry, allowing it to continue defending itself even after taking significant damage.
