FYI, I have added a rule against necroposting:

      1. Do not "necropost" in discussions that have not had a reply in over a month unless you have good reason to believe that your reply will be of interest to the original participants (i.e., you figured out how to fix a bug) or you have good reason to need to get the attention of the original participants (i.e., you want to report a bug to a mod author). It is almost always preferable to start a new thread instead. (Discussions that have been stickied by moderators are an exception to this rule; it is okay to reply to those discussions at any time as long as your reply is otherwise on-topic for the discussion.)

I have a question about the most recently added rule. (The one about necroposting.)

Let's say you have a thread you made a couple months back, but didn't post in for a month. Does it count as necroposting to revive this thread? It would be odd to make a new one, especially for RP.

It depends on what you're posting. If it's substantive and of plausible interest to the original participants, then I'd say that's fine.

        Walt Alright, thanks for responding!

Walt No spamming @mentions - Do not spam mentions of users in posts.

I'd actually like some clarification because mass mentioning for informative purposes is very common in the forum RP. For Example, someone replies in a battle and mentions all of it's participants, is this considered spamming mentions?

yobeefjerky If that's the convention in RP that people find useful, then I don't have a problem with that.

Walt Never mind, it works now thanks!

Is bumping a thread up every few minutes breaking the rules?

            • Walt replied to this.

Walt I have a problem with the 1 month necropost rule I usually don’t read the dates of when a comment is posted so I accidentally post a necro sometimes I feel like this would also affect many other new forumers who are still new to forums

An occasional bump (every couple days) will probably be tolerated if you need to remind people of an unsolved problem you're having, but otherwise frequent bumping would fall under rule 4:

Walt No Spamming or "post farming" - Do not spam threads or spam comments without constructively adding to the conversation.

You won't be insta-banned for necroposting, but please get in the habit of checking dates before posting. You are also able to delete your own posts if you realize you've necroposted after-the-fact.

Walt That sounds fair enough thank so for helping
