Triop NOOOO! Now those two guys can't escape and have to survive for the rest of their lives eating fire extinguishers!!!
0KoreanJesus0 Don't forget drinking.
Plz halp the forum wont let me post anything!!!! exept replies
Wait maybe let me try again...
We need side doors on the fire extinguishers so we can add more...
I forgot, besides fire extinguishers adding some weapons is also a good idea.
(As long as they don't replace the fire extinguishers).
Okay...? Maybe i overestimated the forum average mental age O.o
The three key points of mechanized warfare have always been mobility, firepower and protection. This holds true for spaceships as well in the form of range dictation, damage projection and damage mitigation. That is the basic theory of warship design.
My design philosophy has produced some hard to kill, but expensive ships.
I've not done much in the way of Broadsides, I usually base my stuff around high DPS front facing ships. but this has led to some alternative strategies. if you have two small ships that don't die instantly, then they can often take on ships worth double their point cost. One soaks damage while the other flanks the enemy.
We'll see how good this tactic really is after the upcoming tournaments.
I'm eager to see the winners and learn some new tactics

Aurellia Chain reaction ships are not a problem if you can keep the shields up at all times.
What do you mean by Chain reaction ships? i don't get that. Those other theories are good. About multiple cockpits (i think you meant Control rooms, but i get the point) it's a good idea to give many hearts to your beast. maybe you even get lucky and, mid fight, your ship becomes 2 ships. That gave me some "cheating" ideas for tournaments that only allow one ship on larger size classes.
Overall Swarm tactics doesn't work at ALL with me. Maybe it's my designing method, but i just can't create swarm designs. I have trouble even while making twins work. Can't wait for the tournament to see what they are doing in the low-cost/ship classes.
By chain reaction, I means ships that can be eliminated if one reactor goes down. I have one ship like that which is very hard to kill.
Really? can i see it? I made one like that, but, honestly, i think it sucks. It's okay against lower-priced built-in ships, but against the Cerberus it's crap.
It's not a bounty build and costs under 700K.
I also just discovered the right way to link ships on the forum. Ugh...
That's why I designed this.
Aurellia That's a very cool, very pretty ship. Costs 2.615.750 credits. Quite expensive, but it is quite big. Apparently inspired by actual naval ships. very good idea. But check this out.
It's @Teg's Exodia (i've been "selling" this ship all over he forum lately lol) It costs less than half your Manedrix does, only 1.079.450 credits. Put them close to each other and let them fight, i'll let you find out by yourself what happens.
Triop
Here you can see how to put fire extinguishers on the inside of you ship instead of on the outside.
Hodyn The overall problem with the ship that you have shown is that it only has weapons in one direction. You could destroy that ship for the same budget with only one weapon. I will eventually revise the Manedrix's design to remove the weaknesses at the bow and stern, but a broadside build forces you to have a lot of weapons.
A Behemoth like this forces you to either use mods, a fleet, or a ship that probably costs more than it does.
