Many times has their name been mocked. And for good reason. The Galactic British Empire was never galactic. And it was no longer an empire. The people had been aware of this far before it had been scoffed at by High Imperium ‘diplomats’ moments before they brutally gunned down a peaceful diplomatic shuttle. Kayelin had always had it on her mind, and so did many other members of the council. There had been many discussions. The most difficult part was getting them to agree. Each suggestion had been essentially gunned down by the supporting parties and with the war and the implosion of her economy, they had had very little time to talk about symbolism. However, at this point, they had done everything they could think of and they were waiting for negotiations with the lizards and ID splinter factions to come to a conclusion. Another reason for bringing it up was the recent investigations of the extremely information-rich SAS archives. Very little was known about their supposed earth ancestors. The term ‘british empire’ was previously associated with glory and pride. The SAS archives showed the exact opposite of that. At the time the country of Britain had been an empire it was an authoritarian power that plagued the earth, exterminating people as they saw fit and beginning large scale cattle slavery. This discovery shook the whole GBE’s worldview. This news managed to sneak through amidst all the war and chaos. The topic of changing the nation's name was getting more and more popular. There they were with a name symbolising the very thing the holy constitution stated it was their duty, nay, their purpose to end? The new name was carefully considered. Each component was replaced with something more fitting but similar enough to be recognizable. They were not a galactic nation. Rather the parliament saw ‘great’ as more fitting. In the archives, they referred to the G-S16 colony as ‘Bastonia’. Even ancestro-nationalists were in support of changing this, due to the idea that they did not deserve to be called british. Lastly, the GBE wasn’t an empire, at least yet. Either way, it was not a name they wanted to be associated with. The GBE was something special, the council could agree upon that. After carefully considering what type of state they were they agreed upon ‘empocracy’. Great Bastonian Empocracy would soon be sent to the directory to be established.
