AFTER TESTING...

Ok so from what I understand, the Mini shield consumes 2.71 times more power than the vanilla? Because that's actually insane. After fiddling around and looking through the code, it seems that all of the bubble shields actually consume a lot more than the vanilla version.
Going from there, small comsumes 5 times as much, medium consumes 10 times and large 16 times as much yeah I would agree that that is quite a lot

I do think that @Lafiel 's stats are interesting and balanced, but his stats are based on the shield coverage area, and that would mean that these shields would consume a lot more energy. To make it balanced, I don't think it should be based on a bunch of calculations for shield coverage, but there should instead be a 'tax' for having more area coverage. Maybe it should be related to the radius-energy consumption ratio times 2 so they consume twice as much energy per unit of radius compared to the vanilla shields.

So the vanilla shield has a radius of 7.5 and a consumption of 100. That would be a consumption rate of 13.33 energy per unit of radius.
Sp the Mini shield has a radius of 3.5 and so to calculate its consumption, we have to do 13.33 X 3.5 which gives us 46.66 but since the Mini shield has 360 degree coverage, we multiply that by 2 to get 93.33 energy consumption per tick for the mini shield.
Doing the same calculations for all the other shields...
Small - 133.33 Energy Consumption/Tick
Medium - 300 Energy Consumption/Tick
Large - 533.33 Energy Consumption/Tick

Of course, that's all if you decide that the 'tax' stays at only twice the vanilla cost.
Even If you made it balanced so that the bubble shields cost 4 times as much because of their 4x larger arcs, you get values that are much lower than your current ones...
Mini - 93.33 Energy Consumption/Tick
Small - 266.66 Energy Consumption/Tick
Medium - 600 Energy Consumption/Tick
Large - 1066.66 Energy Consumption/Tick

It all depends on how you balance, but yeah after playing around with it you definitely need to reduce the Consumption Costs.## Heading ##

    My values were calculated based on the circunference of the arc.

    (2 x Pi x Radius x Arc)/365 = Coverage

    I forget to change the energy consumption after reduce the shield radius, this explain why these cost are a bit less than the actuals in the files.

    Vanilla: (2 x Pi x 7.5 x 90)/365 ≈ 11.61 titles of coverage | 100 / 11.61 ≈ 8.6 energy per title of coverage
    Mini: (2 x Pi x 3.5) x 8.6 ≈ 189.25
    Small: (2 x Pi x 5) x 8.6 ≈ 270.37
    Medium: (2 x Pi x 11.25) x 8.6 ≈ 608.33
    Large: (2 x Pi x 20) x 8.6 ≈ 1081.48

    In some minutes I'll publish a version with this new values so you can test them by yourself. Sayme what do you think about them of if I shall reduce more.

    Edited: It's (2 x Pi x Radius x Arc)/360 = Coverage not 365 the real calculation, but note that in the game a full circule is 365, so:

    Vanilla: (2 x Pi x 7.5 x 90)/360 ≈ 11.78 titles of coverage | 100 / 11.61 ≈ 8.48 energy per title of coverage
    Mini: (2 x Pi x 3.5 x 365)/360 x 8.48 ≈ 189.25
    Small: (2 x Pi x 5 x 365)/360 x 8.48 ≈ 270.37
    Medium: (2 x Pi x 11.25 x 365)/360 x 8.48 ≈ 608.33
    Large: (2 x Pi x 20 x 365)/360 x 8.48 ≈ 1081.48

    Version 0.3.1 has arrived! (Download link above in the first post)
    I made this version to get better feedbacks about the energy shield consumption.
    Tweaked:

    • Mini Circular Shield (1x1):
      • Energy consumption: 285 ---> 190
    • Small Circular Shield (2x2):
      • Energy consumption: 569 ---> 271
    • Medium Circular Shield (2x2):
      • Energy consumption: 1024 ---> 609
    • Large Circular Shield (3x3):
      • Energy consumption: 1705 ---> 1082

      Version 0.3.2 has arrived! (Download link above in the first post)
      Important Note: This version change almost all IDs of my files, that means that old ship parts would dissapear when you load the game. I suggest sell my old parts or start a new game.
      Fixed:
      All IDs of ship parts has been changed in order to reduce mod conflics.

      Enderlook Wait so in the game you need 365 degrees to get a full circle?

      I still feel like its odd that the mini consumes almost twice as much energy as the vanilla shield but the small feels a little closer to balanced and the medium and large are pretty much fine, but I do realize that you need 1 delivery of energy per tick for the large one just for passive energy drain which is kinda crazy.
      I think you just need to reduce the consumption on the low end more and forget about mathematics. Like reduce consumption across the board by 70-100 for all of them which will dis proportionally affect the lower end of the spectrum.
      So...
      Mini - 100 Energy Consumption/Tick
      Small - 200 Energy Consumption/Tick (250?)
      Medium - 500 Energy Consumption/Tick
      Large - 1000 Energy Consumption/Tick
      At this point I don't think its the math that needs to change we just need to make it feel comfortable

      Also what does this mean? is the value 1250 or 1000? and why are there 2 values?
      MaxAmmo = 1250 // 1000

      Note: update the values in the forum description of the mod
      Note: The Medium Shield is lopsided and is noticeable when you rotate it

        Jakeblake
        I've just done the changes and upload them. Thanks for your useful feedbacks like always!
        I didn't updated the values in the fourm description because I knew that I would change the very soon.
        Time to update it!
        Thanks again.

          Enderlook Omg I think I love you lmao this is freaking great
          I think you're pretty much done tweaking so I hope to see some new features in the works!

            Jakeblake
            Yes, I am working in several projects... but make the graphics is the most difficult part for me!
            My actual projects are:

            • Aegis Shield.
            • Barracks (Crew 2x3 or 2x4, not sure)
            • Electromagnetic energy transfer laser.

            Enderlook Oh niiice and I feel bad for mentioning it but you may want to update the graphics for the smaller storages to hold 4 and 8 energy in the graphics instead of 3 and 7

            Enderlook That last thing sounds pretty familiar.

            Enderlook Suggestion: reduce the amount of files that mod loads into the game by removing pictures/sounds/shaders that are identical to those in the game's folder.
            Fo rexample: circular shields use a lot of pictures and sounds from Ships\Terran\shield_generator folder, so change the lines like
            Texture = "shield_energy.png"
            Shader = "shield.shader"
            File = "shield_energy_wave.png"

            to
            Texture = "../../../Data/Ships/Terran/Shield_Generator/shield_energy.png"
            Shader = "../../../Data/Ships/Terran/Shield_Generator/shield.shader"
            File = "../../../Data/Ships/Terran/Shield_Generator/shield_energy_wave.png"

            Jakeblake Yes, I knew that some day I must change the graphics since I made modification. Well, it seem that that day has arrived.

              Bubbet Yeah, I don't know why but my brother doesn't like your mod, instead he want to add this into my mod but I don't want to steal your invention so I said to my brother that I would add it when he made the new graphics, and that day won't never arrive 🙂!

                Enderlook hmm that's weird how he doesn't want to use mine, he knows you can modify the values especially for him right? and the two mods work together now too.

                  Bubbet
                  He know that, but he think that your mod is very unpowered and he doesn't encourage to balance it. He feels that each thing that he or I made are unbalaced and that is cheat.
                  In order to fix that I plublish my mods, if people is agree with the balance of my ship parts then my brother feels fine using them because they aren't cheat... but I won't made the laser until he made the new graphics, that would take maybe months for him...

                    Enderlook i cant say Ive had people complain about things being unbalanced, and when i did i fixed it.

                      Bubbet Yes, but my brother doesn't like to chat in forums (I am not sure why...)... he never would say his opinion to you...

                        Enderlook Your brother doesn't sound like a very reasonable guy.

                          ClassicJam Yeah, sometimes he is quite narrow-minded but the rest of time he is quite smart 🙂, sadly he doesn't help me modding.
