It had been a couple of months now since the groups to investigate the whisper had been formed, a couple of months since first whisper occured on the Embassy.
Although no new anomalies occurred on the Embassy itself and although the Herald had stayed quite calm, aside from perpetually wandering the Embassy, the group had been constantly on edge, with new reports about new teras and new attacks coming in every day, too strong to properly prepare for and too fast to properly react to.
At least, that is what many said.
There seemed to be a select few, which were able to actually bargain with the beasts from beyond the tear, some in the form of a battle, others in the form of a sacrifice.
Regardless of whether that was true or not, there seemed to also be rumours spreading about an ominous reward, a sort… prophecy.
Though these rumours for the time remained just that, rumours, as all affected factions seemed to have gone into an almost paranoid information ban, clutching onto each piece of knowledge they may or may not have achieved…
One this day, a couple of months after the initial whisper… the treacherous peace ended at last.
There was another faint rumble on the sensors, a strange fleeting sensation welling up within people in the system…
...and then, another whisper, primordial, indistinguishable and yet… there.
Then, the small blind spot which they had observed ever since the first whisper… suddenly began expanding, although it was at an almost unnoticeable rate, given the astronomical distances in play, the fact that it was expanding at all had terrifying implications.
Something was approaching the Embassy.
It was approaching fast and it was extraordinarily massive…
In the meantime, the Herald suddenly stopped in his tracks, turning his head to sky and staring intensly...
He smiled ...and mumbled, something neither the security systems nor the bystanders could actually understand.
Then, he continued his walk as if nothing happened. Whatever would be happening next, it seems the Heralds time on the Embassy was reaching its end.
