Name: New Cyborion Empire
Short Name: NCE
Basic Description: A large, powerful empire loosely based off the Holy Roman Empire, the NCE is semi-decentralized, with various princes (which in this context is unisex) ruling parts of the empire, all under the Steel Emperor. Status in the upper parts of the government is showed off by robotic implants.
Advanced Descriptions: (Wall of text incoming, be warned!)
Government:
The Steel Emperor/The Crown Advisor:
The head of government, the Steel Emperor technically has absolute power, though the Crown Advisor limits him in that, only allowing him or her to use the full force of his power in the most extreme circumstances. The Emperor is chosen by the Crown Advisor, who chiefly chooses by blood but if it decides the official heir is unworthy of Emperor it will chose another. The emperor, in turn, does most of the decision making with the Crown Advisor advising, as the name suggests. Meanwhile, The Emperor directly appoints the princes and their lands. He also personally owns a great amount of Imperial Stars that hasn't been handed out yet, though they are slated to be carved up soon .
Princes:
There are 24 princes total at the moment, each residing over there own area, acting as mini-emperors over their own territory. Corruption is still regulated by their own robotic parts, though it's usually unneeded as the emperor picks good, honest leaders for princedoms (Minus some necessary exceptions, which often causes... problems) leading to a surprising lack of corruption in the higher parts of the government.
(Please note, princedoms are not allowed to war on each other or other governments without the rest of the empire, unlike real-life feudalism.)
The 7 powerful princes, from greatest to least, are:
Prince Sen
Prince Maria
Prince Danial
Prince Dominik
Prince Sabrina
Prince Wacu'tchat
Prince Gillian
The Greater Cyborion Empire:
Vassal states:
Vassal states are nations that have submitted to the NCE, usually peacefully. Their leaders have pledged complete loyalty to the Emperor and when the NCE goes to war, so do the vassals. If someone attacks the vassals, the NCE protects them. They share tech and information. They are Iau, Niaceten, the Wuac't Nation, Kitch, Earn Commonality, and Chornland. (More info about these soon probably)
Tributary states:
These are normal nations required to pay a small monthy tribute in resources. They are otherwise unrelated. The only tributaries are the Tacila Republic and the Zauati Union.
Protectorates:
The only Imperial Protectorate is Groat-Lithia, which are similar to vassals except they don't join in wars and pay a small yearly tribute, equal to half the costs of humanitarian aid provided. Why would they need humanitarian aid? Some thing was discovered that caused a great lot of damage, which was almost immediately covered up. The whole ordeal became top-secret.
Imperial Free Districts:
(Not to be confused with Imperial stars) Small, privileged areas under Imperial rule, these are created at the request of some princes, but more often out of pure necessity. There are 6 of them, including:
Korchi: A holy site to Hyuism (see culture) it is administered not by the Emperor, but by the leaders of the religion.
Sartinia: An extremely important research site, It is completely cut off from the rest of the galaxy. Only the emperor himself can authorize visits here.
Phite/Ketch: Neighboring vacation spots, some call them the "Twin Beauties"
Royal Gardens: The Royal Gardens of the now-incorporated Chalerian Kingdom, at the request of Prince Sen, the former king of the kingdom, were preserved and opened to the public.
Arperner: [REDACTED]
Military:
Army: There is no single, unified army. Each individual prince has their own army, and each prefers a different style of leading and have different army compositions. This is an outdated system from the earliest days of the Old Empire, when princes were free to war, but it has carried over the years and is now making it difficult to gather large amounts of troops quickly for war.
Soldiers: Everyone is welcome in the military, but Iaus are prized for their strength and toughness. The smallest effective unit is a squad- each squad is militarily self-sufficient- some specialize in anti-personal combat, others anti-tank and yet others act as sappers.
Weaponry: Most of the empire's weaponry are projectile-based, and any energy-based weapons are beams, not separated shots.
X-C1 "Excisor"
This is a rapid-fire, 4-barreled pistol with a large ammo capacity for emergency close-range combat.
L-Y6 "Sweeper"
The most common energy weapon in the Army, it's a constant-beam weapon used for cover fire and cluster groups, and very lightly armored It can fire for around 20 seconds before needing to cool down. Without it's distinctive wings, it would be around five.
S-A8 "Hargrumn"
Named after it's creator, this military-grade slug shotgun is primarily used for close range combat and is surprisingly accurate at medium ranges.
F-R4 "Decimator"
A more conventional shotgun, this one is slowly being phased out of active service and a modified version, using special pellets made of plastic and a special liquid that are painful but cannot cause the same amount of damage as a rubber bullet, for the police force.
E-T3 "Mulcher"
This enormous gun is a railgun, using very powerful but contained magnetic fields to shoot enormous projectiles to obliterate even the thickest of enemy armor and completely destroy enemy lines.
O-U5 "Turkey"
The average anti-personnel gun. It's strange name come from the arrangement and shape of it's front grip, sights and magazines- it fires quickly, and is accurate at long ranges.
AP-QA "Doomsayer"
This is the only stationary gun on this list, this is an enormous minigun with nearly 600 pounds worth of ammo. It can fire at a ridiculous rate, cutting through light armor and infantry. However, it it enormous, heavy, and very slow to set up, so it's impractical in a moving situation.
Armor: The Empire uses armor extensively on the land. There are many different types of these, but here are three.
"Wolfhound" Class Walker
This four-legged beast speeds along at around 70 mph- it is used mostly as a scout, however it can be effectively used as a shock attack force. It is armed with two front-facing light machine guns, and a single rear-facing heavy variant of the "Sweeper" gun. (See previous section.)
"Cyclone" Class Walker
This two-legged walker is used as a highly mobile artillery piece for sieges and bombardment. It's singular gun's shells are CPE, or Contained Plasma Explosive, which can cause large explosions in a small shell, however it is very expensive to produce and distribute.
"Stony" Class Walker
This enormous eight-legged troop transport is heavily armored with hexagonal armor peices, and is armed with 10 outward facing machine guns for defense.
Navy: The Grand Imperial Navy is in a similar situation to the army- nonexistent. Each prince has their own navy, and each varies slightly.

Culture:
Religion:
There are four chief religions in the NCE, as well as (as in most modern civilizations) a large atheist population. All religion is completely separated from state, and princes and the Emperor are not allowed to follow any religion.
Qaderralism:
This group's beliefs are center very much around war and peace, believing in six different afterlives. They believe that depending on what you did in life, you either get placed in the war afterlife or the peace afterlife. Both afterlives have three smaller afterlives, the "hell", the "Heaven", and the "In-between" or the "Neutral". For example, to be put in the "War Heaven" you war for good reasons and you are a good person. To get put in the "Peace Neutral", you have to been a normal person, not really having fought in any wars, not really doing anything good or bad. Three sects have emerged from this religion, adequately named Peace Qaderralism, Neutral Qaderralism, and War Qaderralism. Peace Qaderralists believe that the Peace Afterlives are above or better than the War Afterlives, and therefore encourages peace. War Qaderralists believe the opposite. Neutral Qaderralists believe neither is better and both are equal. The neutral path is the most common, with peace being a close second and war is currently the smallest, with less than a sixth of the followers of Peace Qaderralism, though there are some very influential War Qaderralists...
Hyuism:
They believe in a omnipotent creator god as well as the giving up on the desires of life, similarly to Buddhism, though it's far more lax then real-world buddhism. They believe in a (singular) heaven and hell. One interesting quirks of the religion is the belief that making someone laugh one of the best things a person can do, so many a Hyuist aspires to be a comedian, as well as the fact that many people admit that a Hyuist has been the funniest person they have ever met. They take their jokes very seriously. Of course, this isn't the only thing that gets you into heaven, but often it's the most notable thing to outsiders.
Technological Fanaticism:
It's in the name: Some people have gone so far in their atheism and anti-theism it's almost cult-like. They despise any religion, verbally attacking any who follow anything not firmly based in science. This group has caused a great amount of tension and some have gone so far as to commit acts of terrorism against churches and monasteries across the galaxy.
Elementalism:
This religion worships 13 holders of ancient matter-manipulating staffs. The leader of the semi-cult has the main staff, capable of manipulating all forms of matter. There are four others, each capable of individual using solids, liquids, gases or energy. They each have three more disciples, with similar but weaker staffs. There is also a sect for each, with the sects only acknowledging their own elemental wielder (and the main one) as true gods. The bulk of the religion, though, is made up of generalists, believing in all of them.
History:
The Old Cyborion Empire was founded by Kiur the Great. He was an extremist, believing that people could not govern themselves and had to have a strong central power. This was likely due to the declining state of the egalitarian state he was living in at the time. He overthrew the government and instated himself as supreme ruler. He quickly conquered the surrounding states, and was set to conquer more before he died. Before that though, he commissioned the Crown Advisor. He never got to use it. A series of emperors followed, each conquering new stars and improving the Advisor, which slowly grew in importance. During this time, the Empire was extremely tyrannical and oppressive and many patriotic citizens today consider this an entirely different state. The next notable emperor was Iurinma the Reformer. This was the man that added the anti-corruption programs to the required princely equipment, abolished restrictions on religion, free speech, and so on. He famously gave a Proclamation to the Universe, saying that the point of a government was to "make the people as happy as possible in the most legitimate way" which, while a tad cheesy, solidified the Empire's purpose for the next 200 years. This time was an golden age, with the people happy, the coffers full, and industry booming.
Then the Haur-Gwenturt exploit was discovered.
It was extremely effective, efficient, and no firewalls at the time could defend against it. This might of not been so devastating if not at the same time a corrupt emperor was chosen. He hacked into the crown advisor itself, shutting down the anti-corruption systems that were in place. He then lavished in his wealth, executing anyone who stood in his way, at great cost to his people. The next emperor was similar. The final emperor was actually pretty good, but it was too late. He was assassinated and the empire shattered, each prince vying for control and the common people revolting everywhere. The crown advisor escaped on a FTL pod and half-millennium later, arrived in a chaotic region of the galaxy on the edge of lawlessness .
It landed on a small farming planet. It did an emergency requisition of a local farmer (who, after this was all over, returned to his family and compensated). It then went to the ruler of the Chalerian Kingdom, a small but prospering kingdom which ruled over the system. It requested an audience with the king, a certain King Sen, who he told the entire story and backed it with proof from his hard drives. It then offered to let Sen become the New Emperor. Sen considered for three days. At the end of the three days, he declined. However, he would bend knee to an Emperor if it was his cousin, Luadu. Luadu accepted after a day of contemplation and offered all the surrounding systems annexation. None accepted; he then occupied them and asked again. This time they accepted. They continued to expand without a drop of blood until the Zauati-Imperial War, declared after the Zauati government wouldn't stop militarily harassing Niaceten, one of the vassals of the empire. They beat them by a landslide, taking a good chunk of land and making them a tributary. And that's the current position of the empire.
Random trivia:
Every Emperor, in their will, puts in a change for the Crown Advisor. The final emperor of the Old Cyborion Empire added a single engraving:
I have failed. Let the next not do the same. For the Empire!
There was an emperor who, before he was chosen, had a foreign skeletal upgrade. It was not compatible with the Crown Advisor. He was forever known as Nelek the Deformed.
