Format: Multiplayer PvP
Contestants must enter alone, however you may ask someone else to participate on your behalf. Do note that only one reward will be handed out.

You will have five minutes in a creative game to build 500k ship, requiring that both players use a weapon from a random pool. You will not use outside ships or ship parts. (Paint and crew roles are fine and can be loaded into game) You will be given one armor block that you build off of, so that you can be watched building. (Randomly just building prevents people from seeing what you're doing) A host each will watch each player while commenting, making sure that nothing is brought in. Upon completion of the five minute mark I will kick both players and save each ship, and assign them to the corresponding player for the match. It will be a single elimination bracket: if your ship wins you move on and will build another one next round. If you lose you leave. No explosive charges. Don't use them. They're a no go. Very bad. No. Don't. Stoppit.

As well you will be required to use only weapons from the common and uncommon weapon pools, in which each match both players will have to use the same two randomly picked weapons. For example, if you got small lasers and PD then you would only be able to use small lasers and PD as your weapons. The randomly selected weapons will always be one common and one uncommon weapon type. You are required to use uncommon weapons, but not primary. As well, your primary source of damage must be your weapons, sumoing (the act of pushing the enemy out of the rod as your main weapon) is prohibited and will count as a loss on your side.

Several people have asked if you can use flak and pd regardless. The answer is no. You can only use those two items if they have been selected.

All participants should join the event discord here and enter by posting in the tournament-entry channel.

FAQ

What is the Cosmoteer PvP tournament?
The Cosmoteer PvP tournament is (as the name suggests) a multiplayer pvp tournament for the Cosmoteer community. The tournament is completely multiplayer, which means that instead of using AI to control ships - you will have to build and pilot the ship yourself.

Can anyone join?
You must have a discord account to join the tournament. You can create a free account here

Saris (And Finally Thanks to @IVIemories for letting me copy this post (I really get why he hates this part now))

you said that last time...

Is there a certain time that we should post our confirmation by?
If we realise we can't make the tournament, do we need to withdraw our confirmation by that time?

Saris
Are there any measures in place to prevent people from preemptively preparing a design and just remaking it by head? Hopefully not, since those'd be some dope mind games to try and predict what the enemy will build and whatnot.

Cy-co You can enter the tournament up until when check in starts, or an hour before the event starts. If you can no longer attend just ping me as a heads up and it will do

Fort_Master_Gustav I can't prevent people from memorizing how to build a ship, no. But I will be doing everything possible to prevent copy pasting as well as potentially requiring certain weapons each round so that such strategies aren't viable

It won’t let me type it says it’s read only

Saris You will have five minutes in a creative game to build 500k ship, requiring that both players use a weapon from a random pool. You will not use outside ships or ship parts.

Does "outside ship parts" only apply to weapons? The only part rules for ship-building I see mentioned in this post are the two randomly selected weapons, hence I was wondering about the rules for other ship components like control rooms, engines, etc. Would engines and other components be randomly selected or are we free to use non-weapon parts at our discretion?

And do Tractor Beams count as a weapon or a utility? If a weapon, would it be randomly selected? If a utility, could we use tractor beams freely at our discretion?

bibletech55 Thanks for asking. The only components/parts that are effected by this selection diagram are those within the diagram. If it's not on the top or bottom racks then you can use however much you want of it at your discretion. However, you also cannot use flak or pd if they haven't been selected.
