Thing is: Cosmoteer runs deliciously fine in my crappy computer. You might have a good standard computer, if not a gamer computer, so rendering doesn't look like much work to you since even standard office computers nowadays are getting ridiculous rendering-focused gear. Mine is a rather old build, and the only reason i play Cosmoteer is because my PC doesn't run Dark Souls 3 and GTA V, but that's the whole point. It's community is partially based on the fact that it's free. low-end computers are the most average computers actually running the game, because people who actually buy games are not seeing this game much yet.
They might implement it once they have a stable income from the game "as it is", but for now it would defeat it's whole market value, in my opinion, and i think they know it.
