PROGRESS REPORT ON GALACTIC ALLEGIANCE (GCW Revamp)
This page will be used in order to show what I am currently working on and planning to do for the mod in these coming days. Feel free to leave suggestions and questions below.
Progress Log 1
- Updating the mod to be able to work with the current version of Cosmoteer. This includes having to update it to work for previous versions of Cosmoteer, including storage changes and proxy changes. I don't think there are many changes that need to be done so far, but it's a length process.
- Adding Health to shots. Since new missile types and the flak cannon were added, non-missile weapons could be shot down depending on what type they were. Initially I did not like this idea, because it did not agree with the lore I had established back then. However, with a change of face and realisation that refusing to add health to shots made these weapons much more powerful and broken compared to their vanilla counterparts.
- Renaming things. Due to lore changes this means a lot of things have new names and lore behind them, which means a lot of renaming and a lot of rewriting. Fortunately, I am no longer stuck in 2019 and actually know how shield is spelt, so things are going smoother than I thought.
- Replacing things. For balance reasons, I have decided some parts need to be replaced with better versions. I have replaced the 1x1 Phantom reactor with a 1x2 version and plan to do some overhauling with the Point Defense units (including some new beam units).
- Removing things. Some things are now defunct and I have removed them, as well as removing broken parts that never really worked in the first place. This includes:
- Corridor-Armour Hybrids
- Police Lights (what was I thinking when I made those)
- Maneuvering Thruster
- Other removed things: I also removed ship libraries and the bounty hunter mode, because ships took up too much space and bounty hunter because bounty hunter is going to say bye bye in the full release of cosmoteer and there's no reason to keep it around.
Progress Log 2
- Adding Antigravs: OK, so in another mod that I abandoned early on in its development due to some issues I had with it that meant I was forced to abandon it, I sprited and coded some antigravs, and also promised I would release them in a mod someday. True to my promise, I will be adding them to this mod instead of that other mod, and maybe some other parts I made for that mod.
New Sprites for G1 Thrusters (now known as Ion-7 Thrusters): Also in the mod that had the antigravs originally in it, I made some new thruster graphics. I only ever got up to making the large thruster graphics before abandoning that mod, but there were some pretty cool sprites I wanted to use with the Ion Thrusters because of their new lore behind them.
New Parts: I'm also currently working on some new parts based around a new ammo type, the Ion-Compression Battery. These will be mostly weapons known as "Fusion weapons", and will hopefully present some interesting new parts. Currently planning for them to be Orion Alliance weapons, since I'm gonna give the Terran States Federation plasma weapons. I mean, they already have an abundance of plasma thrusters lmao.
Editing old sprites: The Union turrets now have longer barrels because they used to look stupid with short barrels.
