I recently got a message from @StealthDrifter about the annoying known bug, which makes the mod virtually not usable due to crashes.
Through some testing on their side, we were able to somewhat identify what causes the game to crash:
When a shield gets hit at the same time as the part it originates from gets destroyed, the game seems to first delete the part's object from memory and as it then tries to play the hit effect on the shield, the part it tries to reference no longer exists.
The same behavior was observed with a vanilla shield generator with reduced shield radius.
Cause is the placement of the shields arc in relation to the parts hitbox: Shield and hitbox are quite close together, so explosive damage as found in missiles, flak and even exploding reactors, would then be able to damage the shield and the part at the same time.
I cannot really do anything to fix this bug myself, but to report it to the devs.
But i can try to reduce the amount of crashes that happen by moving the shield on all shield armor parts further away from the part itself.
A modified version of the files should follow within the next week or so..
