I have updated IV's post to make it clear that this contest is about designing factions, not individual ships.
Cosmoteer Faction Design Contest January 2020
Do the factions have to have names?
- Edited
Walt so ships like my battlecruisers from my old C.C.E. Faction are allowed? if so...
Battlecruiser Armored Mk 5
2.3 million
Battlecruiser Tank Tar
(Can't remember price but was 300k range)
and the Mk 1 "Wierd"
was around 70k
Each participant must submit one ship to each of the price ranges (max 3 ships total per participant)
Uh, unless I'm reading something wrong, aren't all of your ships in the third price bracket? (800K - 2.5 Mil)
They're 900k, 1.1 mil, and 2.3 mill.
Hatter Yeah; @BattleCruiserCommander the price brackets have changed, please update your ships.
IVIemories oh..I'm sorry! I haven't used the ships in a while..

Harvest
Terrorists and pirates with an ecological bend, they style themselves as Gaia's vengeance and aspire to bring an end to galactic civilization. Due to poor equipment, worse organization, and a universal failure to acquire any warp drives whatsoever they are very, very, unlikely to even get anyone to notice them. They often float around in easily-defeated groups and randomly attack ships, unable to go anywhere or band together. They spend most of their time painting.
"Amazon" - 2,434,000, third bracket.
Named after a terrifying creature that covered most of a continent, the Amazon was originally a mining ship, it is the largest of Harvest's fleet. As it was originally designed to cut moons in half, nothing in the galaxy can withstand it. However, as a retro-fitted civilian ship it lacks the damage control of a military vessel, its fixed beam has no arc of fire, and any damage to the prism array well active renders the entire ship inoperable.
"Mangrove" - 727,650, second bracket. If it is deemed too wall-like I'll swap it out.
Named after the dangerous ambush predator of Old Earth, this ship was originally a traffic patrol craft. It's primary armament is an EMP launcher. It is effective a disabling speeding freighters, but as a military ship it lacks firepower.
"Piranha" - 190,250~, first bracket.
Just as its namesake spun webs to ensnare its prey, so does the Piranha lie in wait. Which is good, because it doesn't move anywhere very quickly. Its only armament is a single mass driver, easily stymied by moderate shielding. Originally a smaller Industrial Mass Driver, the line was discontinued due to flammability concerns.
Edit: Third entry modified.
Edit 2: Third entry door placement and crew role names / colors changed.
Edit 3: Lore added.
Another question, are collab ships (ships where someone else painted it) allowed?
MadStar Nordwolf is correct; however I do believe you can get both of your names into the credits, but only one flair will be handed out.

"Oxe" - 135,225, first bracket. good at kiting, pd will take care of any shots while dealing damage as well.
"Beserk" - 213,900, second bracket. a small cannon ship with quite the amount of shielding. weak against cannon eb hybrids.
"Upstrike" - 1,420,825, third bracket. off-sided ion focuser with much flak. got lots of missiles.
I changed the decals for a more cleaner look
Zig You need to submit a ship for each bracket.
Since participants need to submit three ships, and since the rules were somewhat confusing, we have extended the deadline to give more people a chance to participate.
ah, aight

The Pylons
The "Pylons" are ships controlled and designed by rouge AIs, using an enslaved workforce. Each ship is in a stage of construction as the ship expands and the AI grows more powerful.
"Wandering Pylon"
Cost: 199,925â‚¡
Wandering Pylons search for material and crew to incorperate, still in a state of early construction.
"Aggressive Pylon"
Cost: 585,925â‚¡
Aggressive Pylons hunt down vessels near and far using its tractors beam to pull in targets.
"Spiteful Pylon"
Cost: 1,130,275
Spiteful Pylons are complete, capable of attacking outposts and large squadrons. While their AI's are powerful, they don't cooperate.

Tenacious and proud, the Khok'Zel Mining Consortium uses eccentric stone-grown ships to defend their holdings in remote systems. Both durable and maneuverable, they specialize in judicious use of mechanical weaponry.
The Khok'Zel Steward - 198,800 - Light fighter.
The Khok'Zel Bailiff - 489,850 - Mine layer and defensive support.
The Khok'Zel Magistrate - 871,400 - Semi-heavy siege vessel.
We're starting to see great factions appear. Way better than mine. Might take some inspiration....

Is it alright if I edit my post with minor fixes/cleanups to my designs so long as the deadline hasn't passed? I got a bit excited to post yesterday.
Edit: I went ahead and did so, I have the older versions if you'd like me to take it back. Pretty happy with these though.
Edit Edit: Also, if these make it into the game as a faction and you'd like to round them out I was thinking I could make a long combo missile/miner called "Judge" in the 2-2.5 mil range.

Lore: This ship is a space colony located in an area where the radio communication is hampered by the strong electromagnetic interference emitted from within the entire barren area, yet for many trading ships, this is the shortest route for trading between some major factions. In this area, many ships have been dissappeared in the past, and for trade ships, there is only one colony around to supply fuel and goods, the SpaceColony2320.
Rumor has it the "peaceful" colony SpaceColony2320 Saturn is hiding something inside the rotating core at the center of the circular space ship...
2320 Saturn is a disguised pirate colony ship, hiding in its core, a deadly new weapon Super Ionbeam. This ship was built putting priority on the design, yet the battle capability was also quite high. The main beam is built focusing on utilizing the Large reactor core at its max potential. The focus was to make the core (not the ion beams emitters themselves) almost always "out of power" state, to have maximum budget efficiency.
This ship also looks quite beautiful when firing the beams with cross configuration.
This ship is ostensibly to supply fuel and materials from the nearby stars to the colony ship, but actually the main purpose is to support the main colony ship with EB and EMP when assulting trade ships. The design is to land to and depart from planets with gravity.
This ship is a mini transport ship to send people between ships. But not only sending people to other trade ships, also sends nukes to them. It's too late when trade ships realise this ship is not just a commuter ship when it is already right next to them. Nuke or surrender!
