Well, not really, since larger battery sizes will have less slots inside the storage, meaning it contains the same total of power as small batteries. (Maybe even less for balance reasons.)

So, when a crew member picks up a larger battery, it also looses power faster, meaning other crew will have to get power faster.

Maybe Im not seeing a huge balance issue that you do?

Namek The "huge balance issue" is the the saving on crew and resupply time, not on actual energy here. So with a large battery storage, crew needs to only get two batteries to resupply a whole shield, which will indeed deplete the storage faster but it would also make for immortal shields until storage is run out.
To be honest sometimes I think it's an alright thing to have, but they should be looked at with intense scrutiny to make sure they are not too op. (I like shields in general being better, but need to see the implications)

Didn't have time to try it so far.
What i can say tho is that for truly "zentralized reactor design" crew has to deliver energy faster, by either running faster or starting to deliver earlier.

SpaceCat Crew deliver more power as there are bigger batteries now, 2x and 3x. Weapons that have big energy buffers are easily replenished by less crew using conveyors.

SpaceCat You might be surprised but it is very much worth it cost-wise making fully connected ships with the current state of larger reactors (I made a 2 reactor barge and 0neye made a whole bunch of 1-2 reactor 1.5 mill standard design ships), it's just that orbiters benefit from it much more atm (cause you need much more power in a small amount of space with them, so you end up draining whole large reactors without much interconnectivity anyway)

Kroom They still have longer latency though than closer reactors, unless you use storages (as expect most people will do).

Kroom The only exception here is the PD's. I still yearn for an option to always deliver a constant supply of energy if the weapon is in range of an enemy/missile.

ucyimDa_Ruler PDs has a very small energy buffer, you will need to place battery storages nearby and have a special crew role to fill them.

Reading all the benefits of large reactors & larger batteries, it makes me wonder if the power per credit buff is necessary to motivate using them. (Or if it makes them OP because you get simply more power for less credits.)

Also chatted with @0neye about perma-boost ... wee agreed that it would be time for cooldown for boosters now, because 9x permanent boost per big reactor might be overkill.

Yeah I think I agree with this. Maybe they can't be recharged while boosting and once out of power shut down until fully recharged? (Kind of like shields.)

Seems fine! ... then finetune it simply by adjusting total boost time.

(Alternative idea would be that they can always be recharged but overheat and then have to cooldown.)
