As I said
I figure the important thing is that it goes fast, and this goes fast in a straight line, with little turning ability
Well, okay, it does turn pretty well, go try it out and hold down the A or D while in direct drive and it spins around like a helicopter blade... but it can't decelerate it's existing momentum all that well, meaning it just continues in the same direction but turned around until the booster changes direction.
Furthermore, it loses pretty bad to EMP Missiles, which shut pretty much everything for a couple seconds and given the rules state -
FYI boost thrusters will be turned on at the beginning of the race, but they will not be touched afterwards.
- that if the boosters are shut down, they don't come back on again. Draining the control room or the booster resets that control. Without that boost this stops being the fastest single entry. Testing indicates that Electrobolters don't have the punch necessary unless they can somehow sustain fire, but a single EMP missile does both.
I'm surprised nobody submitted an EMP missile build like this one I played around with:
If everyone else is drained of power, then obviously you have the fastest ship, right? *taps head*
