He put the money on the desk and frowned, waiting for her to get the sword, the shortbow, the pistol, the knives and the corresponding ammunition...
"Ya don´ happen to know what was up with th´ guy?"

She places the weapons on the counter.
"Wauld yae like a bag fer thaet? Taes a lot."

"Eh, nah ´s fine."
He pulled a bag made from roughspun fabric from below his cloak and carefully places the weapons in it...
"Well anywho, thanks for th´ help lady, gonna head out n´ maybe I´ll come back for somethin´ else later."
He waved and headed out of the shop...

She shook her head, this fellow was an odd one...
When Nurian heads back out into the street, he notices something odd, several roof tiles lie shattered on the pavement, and they were most definitely not there when he went into the shop...

Sam sits next to him, and starts playing with his knife again.
"So why are you 'ere anyway? You obviously aint from round here, and yet you don't seem to be needing anything from Gostck urgently, so why come 'ere?"

She smiles again, and shakes her head.
"You cannot help us, however much you wish to, you must first help yourself, else all will be for nothing but strife."

As they walk out into the rain, they spy Nurian standing a little down the road, outside a shop of some kind looking at something on the floor.

Velkas flinches a bit, but chows down anywat, while Toret merely eats the food without complaint, consuming mug after mug after mug...after mug...after...mug...

After finishing the food, Velkas goes to grab her cloak and jewels and heads out with the others for the trip.

Nurian looked at the tiles, then walked a bit forward, he turned around and looked at the roof of the building, doing some brief scans to see wether there was any traces up there of individuals he had already met...
Then while waiting for the results he walked over to the group, pressing the weapons bag into She'las hands...
"This should suffice for the moment. Have you seen anything moving over the roof of the shop?"

He passes through the wall, soon reappearing.
"The guard's asleep again, but he's got his keys on his belt now, I don't know how we're going to get 'em."

She shakes her head, looking down with a wry smile at the bag of weapons.
"For me? You shouldn't have. And no, we've just been in the pub."

"Hm...I suppose someone is watching us." He was pondering on wether he should start chasing after whoever that may be, but eventually decided against it, it would be an ill decision in broad daylight...
He turned back around to the group...
"Have you acquired any information so far?"

"How do I explain that.. Theres been kind of a wave, that passed through our homes, but it was no wave of water, but one of magic, if you could call it that. It rampaged through our people and we think it came from round here."
Heinrich looks around..
"Right, nuff time passed, lets get to work. Head inside and see if theyre still there.."

"Nurian, I recognise the uses of a good knife as much as anyone, but do we really need this many? I did bring one with me too you know."
She straightens up.
"How did the meeting with the mayor go? Learn anything? We didn't have a chance to ask you."

"Well, you might be familiar with the concept of 'throwing knifes' even though those might not be particularly made for that.
Ahem.
Well what I did find out is that, the individuals in the carriage yesterday were headed to the next city "Gostck", one of them has likely been the trigger for the transformation of 'Nathaniel' even if they didn´t directly cause it themselves, the incidents seem to have been going for a month and there has been another event like this when the planet was colonized, though less intense, this world is in fact a colony, the starships they used disappeared shortly after they arrived, there are several people which seem to show various grades of psionically caused mutation, I have been told to meet someone called Dr. Earhart who should arrive here tomorrow, a Mer-king seems to have been driven out of the ocean by deepsea creatures and as unlikley as that sounds it might be our 'mayor' is in fact a Vampire."
He paused for a while, waiting for them to process the information.

She looks sceptically at Nurian, head held quizzically to one side.

"A vampire? did you get enough sleep last night to be functioning properly?"

Blak looks confused.

"Wait, so do you mean he is a different species? What is a Vampire?"

"Don't tell me you don't know what a Vampire is."

"Well I don't. I've never heard of it before."

"Well I just don't think it's rational to jump to the conclusion that someone is a member of a mythical race, what on earth gave you the idea he was a Vampire?"
Blak still looks confused.
"What? Just blood? How do they survive on that? And what is the bloodcult?"

"Be safe, Ambassador, the people of this world do not like those who do not look like them, they tolerate us because of our numbers and our strength, but for you it may be different, be on your guard, for there are many dangers around you."

He sighs... "In fact, I did not sleep last night just like every other day since I arrived in this galaxy, which is also why I was able to observe part of what happened in the night. However, do you intend to tell me that you´re coming from an empire that currently inhabits ringworlds, an empire which had shields which froze time in place and used drives that moved the universe, but does not believe in an potential organism whose diet is human blood? Also, I said "might be" not "is for sure", you may call it what you want, it could be just another side product of this or the last chain of such events, which opens even more questions about the nature of this planet."
He looked at Blak...
"A 'Vampire' is a creature usually mentioned in myths and legends, according to the average story it was formerly human and then turned into what it is, in consequence it can only feed off humanoid blood, due to lower tier races´ fears and lack of knowledge creatures like these are mentioned in the folklore of various civilizations. However, that the original was likely story, does not exclude the existence of such an organism, for example the 'Bloodcult' which seems to inhabit this galaxy apparently feeds off blood as well, amongst other things."

And with that The Ambassador nods, and headsback towards the street, next on his list is meeting with that shady doctor, he does, however, notice the theme of psychic projection, something that isn't alien to him. WIth the doctor's book about projecting it into a corpse, and the merman's odyssey of being brought to this world by the same means, it appears that the people of this world are more adept to these arts than first thought of.

"The bloodtraces on his suit, the bloodtraces matching that blood on a statue, the object which could potentially be a coffin in the cellar of the townhall, his behaviour, the fact that he would profit greatly of the constant rain in this area, the reaction of the barman to his letter, the age in which this civilization has fallen back into and a few other things. This however is not enough to prove anything so it can be disregarded, as of now. As I said, 'might be' not 'is'.
Are there any questions or remarks which do not regard the questionable identity of the baron?"

The two guards bow as he walks out of the door, the street is busy, a fish market is in progress down the road, the sellers crying their wares, the ambassador can feel a great deal of contentment emoting off the buyers and sellers, something that he has not seen much during his stay on the planet, and feels like the warm glow of a fire after standing in a cold draft.

"OK no, so what do we do now? How about looking into the "mutation" thing you mentioned?"
