I put this up on a previous worst ship thread, it was the last post there. I made this when a) I knew a little less about ship building, and b) was experimenting with ION Beams. I have made more efficient and powerful ION cannon ships since then, though they are not as efficient as they could be still. (Though in any respect other than pure laser damage and sustained continuous laser firing, my newer ships are bad and ugly, also ion beams seem to have like reverse recoil or something, being pulled forward while firing instead of pushed back.)
