  • Programming games with the Ti-84 Plus calculator: Runner

That's pretty sweet! For sure need screenshots maybe a little gif of it

ProntoManagement I'll try to do that Wednesday. 😄

Alpha It is an interesting project. I made a chess program with my TI-89 (unfortunately, though, I lost it when the batteries got changed: I didn't archive it) and I am interested in trying to make this one too.

Well, I already made it (see download). You could try to make something similar for the TI-89 if it's not compatible. If you have any questions regarding some of the code I wrote, please ask! 🙂

Alpha It's not directly compatible, so I need to translate it to the language for my calculator.

CrazyBirdie Alright. If the screen size differs from the TI-84 Plus you may have to change a lot of things involving movement (going off map) and X-placement.

I can help you explain if something is unclear (I manually typed all the code on the calculator itself, that is why it looks unclean). It's also the first thing I created in Ti Basic without help from the internet, so inefficiency is probably everywhere.

To easily see or edit the code, you can upload the file to an online .8xp-viewer. That's what I did to copy it into Word.

            Alpha Thank you.

Alpha how do i actually run this game?

BritishSpuds First things first, do you have a Ti-84 Plus calculator ? Otherwise you can't.

Once you've installed (see steps in my post) it into the program folder of you calculator, press its prgm-button. You should see a program named RUNNER2, by running it you start the game.

Alpha wait? this on on calculator? i thought you downloaded it and then played it. oh well

BritishSpuds It was programmed on a calculator for a calculator. Perhaps I should make this more clear.

Alpha changed the title to Programming games with the Ti-84 Plus calculator: Runner.
