While I was studying the Intriguing possibilities of the new Ion Beam Prism, (I.E. trying to write "Ayy Lmao", creating a ship that can summon Cosmolord, creating a laser that can cut through armour like butter, etc.,) I eventually realized a way to create a ship so powerful it could do something so many other vanilla ships have failed to do... Use a true melee weapon.
Although constrained by distance between prisms, this weapon uses a closed Prism Circuit, meaning the longer it runs for uninterrupted, the Larger- and Deadlier- it gets on contact. Let me introduce to you...
THE PYROCYCLE.
(Note:thepictureglitchisbackforsomepeople,godsaveoursouls,P.S.thisisnottheglitchI'mrefferingtoforthemods,sorryfortorturingyouwiththistext...)
Despite being a prototyping of the weapon, the Pyrocycle still features a highly lethal charged weapon nonetheless, with impressive potential for future designs... It also gets bonus style points for looking extremely intimidating; who would get near a ship protected by a wall made of Ion Beams?!
However, the ship has two flaws, one far more obvious than the other. Firstly, the Melee's effectiveness is wholly reliant on the target actually fitting in the beam, and keeping them contained for long enough to deal lasting damage. The second flaw is actually partially caused by a glitch, rendering the problem with the inability to be solved until patched...
This second problem is that unless you actually fly into the enemy ship without aiming for it, the prisms will either configure to attack the enemy with a regular beam attack, or, if you force them to stay in a closed loop...
NOT DEAL ANY DAMAGE.
Now, I fully understand this was probably meant to prevent the ship from damaging itself, but I'm pretty certain that this glitch could be fixed easily by only having the looped beam damage enemies and not the ship itself, as well as any allied ships. This would be a much more preferable solution for the glitch.
