Mine Kites FTW

I've been playing with mine kites despite the AI not being very good with them. The silliest idea is spinners, the idea being that you don't need propulsion (against humans) and the mine ejection momentum spins you. But against the AI I find I need missiles or something to actually get kills. Like this (feel free to critique)

This is useless against AI ships because they will only chase it if they can shoot it... and it's no good at being shot (or possibly too good at being shot?) but it's very cheap (200k) so in theory a giant swarm of them would be able to do something useful. Or the game will grind to a halt, oner or the other.

Sees to be so slow that almost anything can kill it. For the budget this is faster and seems to live long enough against the built in ships to kill them. Albeit every single battle I have to manually set it to kite at a sensible distance and the AI cannot drive the ship in any useful way

There is a zero percent chance of that being faster than an infinite boost ship with zero armor to weigh it down.

Is there any way to stop the AI using kites as rammers? Doesn't seem to matter what I do at some point the AI will decide to close with active remnants of an enemy ship and sit there being shot at until it dies. Not because it's suffered damage itself, but apparently at some point it just decides that the target is not enough of a threat to justify staying at a safe distance.
And yes, against unarmoured ships there's not much that can be done other than the same tactic (at least for the specific case of mine kites - the usual "just shoot them" response works the other 99% of the time)
