Support Ship Types

What kind of support ships, if any, do you have?

The one I like to use is an EMP platform with electo bolters and EMP launchers. It also has a lot of modded missile defense systems. (Galactic Civil war/Kroom's Forge)

This is not as good at taking on player controlled ships, but it uses some sort of 'support'.

While the large railgun ship only has the railguns to deal damage it draws most of the fire from hostile AI-ships to himself. At the same time the two smaller ships obliterate the enemy from the sides/from behind.

1st is a corvette, the 2nd a frigate, both are pretty decent,but i'd recommend not setting one in the direct path of 6 railguns, without moving it, that is

TinySaint i dont think non competitive support ship even exist. why make a support ship when you can implement fire power to that support ship or even just put defensive capabilities to your main ship?

Bevan A ship that isn't really meant to do very much damage, but is mainly used to support other ships, maybe this could be a ship that is meant to specifically destroy missiles, disable other ship's systems, maybe even a carrier type ship, in some cases it could provide covering fire while your ships are reloading ammo, ect.

TinySaint What you're describing is a flawed concept, good ships can stand on their own in a match with equal credits. They can be built with teamwork in mind, of course.

This pair was made with 1M matches in mind, it didn't work like I'd hoped but despite being made before we had flak or EMPs they're decent.

This was a less successful attempt at a flanking bomber. It's really too clumsy to do the job I had in mind.

TinySaint In competitive play support ships are non-existent (unless they are flankers, but those aren't support ships by your definition) due to their inherently bad firepower/cost ratios. Instead it is just better to incorporate missile defense or better re-load speeds into the main ship instead of making a separate ship for those purposes. And if you have enough firepower anti-shield weapons aren't needed. Plus fast ships can take advantage of non-fast fleets by running away with each ship 1 at a time and ignoring the rest.

Ero Missile Array, Often protected by another ship. (It goes boom.. not really worth the credits but cool to have)

^ Ero was based off of a ship made by someone else, The 'wings' weren't originally placed like that.

Xindarian Light and Heavy Frigate's, mainly used to escort larger ships such as battle ships and dreadnoughts, however they can quite easily stand their own ground against ships with a similar price.
