The Iridestin nodded...
"Well, there is ofcourse always the option of normal metallic or ceramic superconductors, however some these are usually brittle and all of them are problematic to handle."
He seemed to be thinking for a moment, then nodded again.
"We Iridestin however have a few more options in that regard, which are likely more elusive than any other materials you might have heard of so far."
He waved over one of the androids, which then handed him another sort of holo-device, the Iridestin put it on teh table and activated it, what the Musavian saw was... odd.
The device, instead of folders, numbers and letters depicted odd shapes, some of them seemed to be solid, other liquid and others... were simply hard to describe.
The shapes seemed to be constantly shifting but after a few moments the screen changed, it showed a room which could be really anywhere, a spaceship, a spacestation, or just a research facility on a planet...
Most notably however, in this room with the Iridestin were a group of mothlike humanoid creatures, with black wings and red patterns on them, they seemed to be on average half a meter taller than the Iridestin, but before he could make out more details the recording zoomed in on a sort of testing room...
In said testing room, on a pedestal, there stood a chunk of skyblue, crystal-like material, it was transparent and had the shape of a flat hexagonal cylinder, notably, the pedestal had walls, as if originally being made to hold a sort of liquid.
Test 1 Start
Letters in the upper right corner of the recording proclaimed.
One of the mothmen stepped through the door in the back of the room, holding what looked like a energy based weapon.
It put a helmet over it´s head equipped with what looked something akin to sunglasses, then aimed and fired at the material, a continuous laserblast came from the weapon, then it, stopped, the moth fired a few more bursts, then it left again.
The recording changed, showing the whole test again, but this time showing heat and energy levels, the material seemed to be in fact ablative in nature.
The recording didn´t end there though.
A metallic looking cylinder extended from teh roof above the material and halted a few centimetres away from it.
Test 2 Start
The recording stated. A few moments later, faster than the Musavian could follow with his eyes, the roof cylinder crashed into the material, the hexagonal cylinder was gone, instead the 'bowl' on the pedestal was now filled witha thick liquid of the same transparent colour.
The Recording went back to the start of the second test and played again, in slow motion.
In slow motion, the Musavian saw that the roof cylinder hit the hexagonal material cylinder with almost the speed of a bullet.
The material however, did not heat up or bend or crack, it simply... melted?
With a small wave going over the surface, coming from the impact point, the material had liquified. An odd behaviour.
Test 3 Start
Now two smaller metal cylinders extended from the pedestal into the liquid, a faint glow went went through the material, but apart of that nothing seemed to happen.
A few moments later however the recording showed the data which was likely on one of the consoles in the viewing room the two metal rods were apparently transfering energy through the material, first it was heated up the entire pool seemed to immedietly take the same temperature, then it went back to room temperature, a torrent of electricity was sent through, without any energy loss.
The material which was ablative a few moments ago, was now superconductive.
The torrent stopped, lastly the material was being cooled down, the temperature dropped rapidly, and at around 200°C the material began solidifying and changing shape, once the process was done, it was back in it´s original form, th eflat hexagonal cylinder. Even as the temperature rised again, it stayed as it was.
Test End
...there was a pause, the holographic panel went dark and the Iridestin looked at the Musavian.
"We labeled it 'Celestite' due to it´s transparent skyblue color. It´s properties a rather... questionable, but certainly useful. The production is almost cryptic process, but we managed to create a place on one of our planets where we can create a steady supply of it, albeit in lower qunatities than other metals."
He paused again.
"I suppose you have questions?"
