THE SUMMARY OF THE HISTORY OF THE ILLATERI PEOPLES
THE ANCIENT TIMES
It has been so long since our ancestors that ruled a large part of the skies fell to their knees in the face of their unstoppable foe. Hundreds of trillions died in a hopeless war where the galaxy was torn asunder, where the ancients made their final stand.
That was a hundred thousand years ago. We like to call them the Union, since they were a union between many diverse alien species. They were basically the rulers of the entire galaxy. They were a fair people, and although they had their biases, they chose not to project them onto others because to them, it wasn't right. They barely had any wars until the horde of invaders came rushing through.
Speaking of the invaders, they were powerful, to say the least. Weapons based on a form of matter unseen in the galaxy, strange energies that could rip ships apart, each of them being equipped with many of these weapons and they numbered in the billions. In the early days, the Union was caught off guard and they had no chance. Having not seen war for thousands of years, their military commanders had no idea what they were doing and entire fleets of extremely powerful ships were destroyed, even their most powerful fleet. As the years went on, they began seeing patterns in the way they thought and acted in battles, and the Union started fighting back. They had a chance.
That chance was obliterated, for these were only the vanguard of the invaders. Three more portals opened on many sides of the galaxy, crushing any hopes of the Union winning the fight. But against all odds, they did. The remaining Union researchers found the material composition of these invaders, and one last weapon was deployed, destroying the portals, the enemies, and banishing them back to where they came from... forever.
It was too late to save the Union. They were reduced to a handful of worlds, trade between them collapsed and while the apocalypse was over, no stability remained and all of the Union was extinguished, but not before seeding the genetic code of all of their members across the galaxy... The capitol of the Union, today known as Unity, collapsed after a decade of anarchy.
AGE OF ILLATER
Illater. The safe haven for where man would be preserved. It was locked by an immense shield for millenia as the war in heaven raged. The system emerged as the only remaining place where man had not perished, or at least that was what was known at the time. The database stated that we came from an ancient place that is now known as Terra, where human civilization was... like us for a few hundred thousand years. We were in the age of Rocks, where stone tools were used to hunt, gather, craft and create. We migrated from place to place, always on the move, depleting what was available to us and then moving on. That was until the discovery of the artifact.
To the discoverers, it was completely alien in design, yet seemed strangely familiar. It was super smooth, where before they had only encountered rocks, they found something that was completely metallic. This, of course, was not the only thing of note. It was only discovered seven thousand ago, and this artifact told us of our ancestors from the ancient times. We wanted to meet them. We wanted to say hello to them, if they were still there and alive.
The Renaissance of Civilization as we knew it began. We had to figure out how to get to the stars, up there... figure out the laws of physics, thermodynamics, recreate the wheel and all these other important things before reaching up there. There were of course a few wars, many people had their own ideology or some power hungry madmen wanted to take over the world and be the one to meet the sky people. They were all put down, but this continued until the space age where all of Civilization united under one banner. We reached into space, colonized our solar system including the titans of gas. This was a golden age to us back then, but to us it seems... small.
THE STELLAR EXPANSION AND CONTACT
It was during this age that the first Warp Drives were researched and built. This is one of the most, if not THE most significant discovery in our history. Space-time manipulation on really small scales was possible, but they couldn't do more than that until an exotic matter artifact drifted into the system. With that, we figured out how to create exotic matter or energy of a sort that could create anti-gravity fields, and manipulate space-time bubbles to accelerate to superluminal speeds. The largest and most rapid expansion of the Illateri peoples begun.
It was hard at first, systems were seperated by light years and it could take years for a colony ship or construction ship to reach it's destination, and all the colonies were completely free. There were so many wars of ideology and resources in this era, it's impossible to record them all.
Eventually, some systems united to create the first true interstellar powers of multiple systems. There were many of these. There were still the wars. It wasn't really as good as today, but we still thrived and prospered in many areas. It was the greatest time in the history of the Illateri peoples until the Sovereignty happened.
And then there were the aliens...
You see, the first people contacted were a group of ship-dwelling xenophobes who got kicked out of their home by an imperialist nation that we know today as the Imperial Realms of Hydar. Their large fleets of thousands of ships are fleeing from the expansion of their empire, with multiple military fleets scouting the area ahead of main fleet to be sure that the path would be clear, and one of these military fleets encountered an early exploration ship, one of a particular faction that would become one of the founding members of the Sovereignty...

V.F.S Torch, BEFORE DESTRUCTION
This was the ship. The Vixian Fleet Ship 'Torch'. It entered star system Iuesto just after three months of travelling with it's weak warp drives.
It encountered a military fleet sent ahead of the primary fleets. The fleet it found was run by a very impatient and xenophobic commander - a bad thing for the Torch. Had it been run by some other commander, the Torch would be in a museum, a remnant of the times before, instead of serving as scrap metal, centuries later. At 15:37 hours of the third day of the fifth month of 342 EE, the Torch's sensors detected, at the edge of the system, multiple massive energy signatures at the edge of Iuesto. Two hours later, at 17:58 that day, the Torch broadcasted through basic subspace radio it's final message.

There was a lot of noise, the communications device must have been damaged. There are sparks flying all over the room on the other end, and an explosion killing a crew member in the background.
CAPTAIN: "Vi---n Hig- ----and, Heav- --mage, casua-- repo--- coming fr-- all ov-- --e sh--! Re--est-"
Another explosion, killing one of the other crew members on the bridge, splattering red-orange blood all over the room.
CAPTAIN: "Imm--iate assi-----e requi---"
TRANSMISSION END
Vixian High Command sent someone to investigate. They found a large debris field, and analyzed it. They confirmed it was the Torch's debris.
The fleet it encountered was still around. The frigate relayed all information back to Vixian High Command, who tried talking to the fleet's commander when they translated the language, but he just ignored it because we were the filthy xenos that can't be trusted and all. We talked to the main fleet, and they were better than that highly xenophobic captain, and a war was averted.
Then, they came.
THE HEAVENS SET ABLAZE
The Imperial Realms of Hydar. The barbaric imperialists. They thought they were superior to us, and, before contact, they were. The Vixians were the first, their outer colonies started falling. No contact with them. Then, the middle colonies, and they were forced to send a larger fleet - and what they found horrified them...
A planet turned into glass.
