nicholasbowen I see you made a lot of mistakes beginners make like clustered reactors, door issues,... (I just never saw someone using so much point defenses/PD)
When I see your design I suppose you wantit to kite, taking full advantage of your longer range while staying out of the other ship's range?
There are some major things you should fix before continuing.
Crew can't walk through railguns, meaning that the entire column of crew quarters between the railguns is useless. It would be much better to move that crew into modules away from the center of the ship.
Make sure all parts have door acces. Some railgun parts are not getting powered, rendering all of them useless and one of the railguns doesn't get ammo.
Clustered reactors = BAD (Unless used on ships that absolutely require multiple reactors in a small space, like ships with ion beams next to eachother. ) spread them out to where most power will be going to (= shields, thrusters and railgun.)
Use PD (Point defense), but not that many. Replace a lot of them with armor, and perhaps use flak which is better when combined with PD.
Use modules! Separate parts of your ship for improved powering and faster attacking (Because all crew have the IQ of a vegetable.)
Add more reverse thrust, enabling your ship to stay out of range somewhat better.
Training:
I want you to build a ship, perferably of similar cost that followes the advice mentioned above.
Example ship which uses modules: (Note: it uses the huge ships mod, just ignore the message that says it's illegal.)
Once you've build a better ship, we can start training you further.
