Weapon range increases

So I have noticed some ships have longer range weapons than others with the same guns.

That red ship has been shooting at me with weapons that I have, but mine arent anywhere near in range. I thought it might be sensors influencing it, but we both have 1, so that shouldn't be it, am I missing something?

just want to add that this is with the latest vanilla build, no mods or anything.

Manually targeting components seem to increase the range on cannons for some reason. According to your image, you aren't targeting any parts of that Constellation. Since enemies are always targeting, they will have greater range than your blind fire.

I too don't like the fact that the enemies are firing way before I do. I am going to move my sensors up more and let you guys know if it fires earlier. I see them way before I fire and see them firing early too. Something fishy here lol.

So I moved up my sensor array but it still fires way later than the ship I am attacking WTH. Plus I bought a second command station earlier and placed it closer to the front but that didn't do anything either. I just don't get it.
We should be firing at the same time if we have the same weapons.

Position of radars and control center doesn't affect anything (except the rotation of the CC changes how you FTL jump).

Pantera, can you confirm that you have been targeting parts on the enemy? In my fights, targeting increases range on cannons.
