0.14.5rc3 causing my 0.14.4 to not work???

so i downloaded 0.14.5rc3, i put it on D:/cosmoteer2 since the 0.14.4 is on D:/cosmoteer. when i tried the 0.14.5rc3, it worked (without mods). i wanted the 0.14.4 to still be on my computer because i want to use mods. when i launch the 0.14.4 (without mods), it works. i tried 0.14.4 with mods, then an error screen popped up:

i dont know what this means but does this have to do anything with the new 0.14.5rc3? i didnt have this pop up before i downloaded the unstable version. its also weird because this is on my 0.14.4 version, meaning something is interfering. or maybe there is something with my nvidia stuff. there is no path in my computer called C:\User\Walt. maybe this path is from a server computer? if anyone understand, please help me!

This happened to me to you just need to uninstall cosmoteer then re install it

I know too intimately what this means, but the technical description of reference counted garbage collection algorithms isn't likely going to solve your problem. All I can say is that I have 0.14.4, 0.14.5 rc2 and 0.14.5 rc3 installed in parallel and it works as long as I don't try to start two of them at the same time.
Maybe you can fix it by deleting the texture cache in <your user profile>/Application Data/Cosmoteer/TextureCache? Just a hunch. If that doesn't help, disable texture compression in the working copy.
Those directories and files mentioned in error messages are for the developers that created the program on their computers so they know which line in which source code file produced the error. These files don't ship with the released game. In this particular case, it is an open-source library from NVIDIA and you can actually see the line of code here: https://github.com/castano/nvidia-texture-tools/blob/2.1.0/src/nvcore/RefCounted.h#L102
Presumably the texture tools are used to convert the *.png images to proper compressed textures usable by 3D graphics cards (not only NVIDIA).

Bevan Yes, but all mods that provide new parts have to be updated for 0.14.5. Part mods that work with 0.14.5 crash 0.14.4 and vice-versa. Other mods might just continue to work despite warnings (translations, planets, ...). If you really need to switch versions often you can create a custom shortcut for Cosmoteer with --rootsavepath <some other directory> appended to it and the game will load ships, the configuration and mods from that other directory so you can more cleanly separate the two installations and their mods.

Bevan Basically what mleise said. Any single mod with a part will be broken, and a lot of various particles will be broken too. Simple things like translations, mods that tweak vanilla mechanics, or texture packs will be fine, but pretty much everything else is toast. The master mod list will be a good place to see which mods are updated, and which aren't, at least once IVIemories finds the permissions to edit it (what)
