Strike craft, commonly known as fighters, are small, dependent vessels that are supported by a larger capital ship, predomenantly carriers. However, they can also be deployed from ground- or space-based stations or be resupplied by a Fighter Tender. They are often deployed in hit and run attacks, striking key targets and leaving the battle to re-arm before an enemy can counter them. Within fleets, they perform a vital role in defending larger ships from enemy strike craft, or providing precise strikes against vulnerable points on enemy ships.
Fighters are small and agile crafts desgined to intercept enemy bombers, and protect friendly ones. Most can operate from both carriers and stations. They are intended to fight other small craft and achieve superiority space, which is a situation in which friendly can not operate freely and the enemy can not.
Interceptors are fighters with a unique purpose of catching up with enemy bombers and destroying them before they are able to reach their target.
Strike crafts oriented mainly to attack and destroy larger ships, even though they can also fight other strike crafts. They are slow but dangerous.
Shuttle / Gunship
Usually larger than most strikecraft, gunships are desgined for transport of personel / troops and vehicles, either to the surface of a planet or a moon, or between capital ships.
Fighters able to hide for a short period of time, enough to surprise their enemies and destroy them, or get rid of their pursuers.
Dedicated troop transports. They have few weapons, mainly used to give fire support to ground troops.

Small / Support Craft
Ships that do not exceed one kilometer long. They fulfill several purposes, although the princiaples are support and patrol. They are the smallest ships capable of acting alone, but it is not recommended. They are commonly deployed to support strike craft, as well as defend the capital ships with their specialized weaponry for shooting down strike crafts.
