Prioritized Management:
Are you tired of your crew taking ammo/power all the way over to the other side of the ship, when a perfectly fine supply exists just a few steps nearby?
Introducing: Prioritized Management.
The basic gist of PM is simple. It allows you to select a power source/ammo factory/storage and basically say: "Hey! Only this, This, and this module can use what i produce." More or less it allows you to select a module and then choose what other modules it shares with. Such as having a reactor prioritized solely for engines, Or an ammo generator that only provides for the selected weapons on the same side of the ship.
Simple, Clean, And useful. The upside is also its only downside, In that a prioritized module will not provide for any modules it isn't assigned to. So if your reactors are struggling to even keep the weapons firing it won't take any batteries from the reactors assigned to the engines, Even if they're full or not being used at the moment.
PM also works for all modules, Not just producers. Storages can be assigned to consumers or producers, and consumers can be assigned to only draw from a specific storage or producer, such as an Ion Beam that can only draw batteries from a specific storage will not draw from any reactors.
Onto the next point.
Power conduits:
Is your day filled with Ion beams fizzling out, and engines constantly needing to be refilled?
Worry no more, The future is here, in the form of: Power conduits! (Fireextinguisherssoldseparately.)
Like armor, Power conduits are placed as blocks on the ship. Though untraversable, a dedicated passageway can be built. passing to the other side however slows crew down.
The upside of Power conduits, Is that a conduit will automatically supply any module it is connected to with as much power as the reactor, and attached storage, can provide.
The downside however, is that reactors and storage connected will become dedicated to the conduits and no longer provide batteries to the crew. The reactor will also need a crew member to monitor its plasma flow.
Conduits provide all connected modules with power as quickly as the reactor can produce it, foregoing the need of waiting until your crew can carry batteries from your reactor to the module.
However, This same advantage is also its greatest weakness. As conduits are a physical block on the ship, Meaning enemy fire can breach and destroy it, Cutting off power between the reactors and its modules.
Not to mention, As plasma is a gas, it needs to be pressurized to travel fast. A breach could slow the power transfer if not sealed, All the while venting plasma into the surrounding area and setting the ship ablaze.
In addition, Conduits come in two variations!
Your standard 1xWide segment for transferring power between modules, And one large, Industrial grade, 2xWide segment; suitable to handle the combined output of multiple reactors with ease. Perfect for larger ships.
