Such old thread should be closed and maybe should be moved to a "old post" subsection in each main section?
And if someone really has to make a new post he should create a new thread and link to the old one. This is etiquette imho. There are a lot of old and tons of common suggestion posts it might be a good idea to sort them into subsection categories for ease of seeing / finding them, hence, might prevent further repeated posting.
