So a note first. Those of you who are on the Stellar Assembly Discord probably know that I spent most of last week sick as a dog. Unfortunately, I've already been struggling with what direction to take this event and that sort of derailed me entire. Thanks to some poking and prodding from Pearl, I've finally taken my courage in hand.
So I guess what all of that means is...
WE'RE BACK, BABY!

Yes, you can muster reinforcements into the Maw, but there's no guarantee that'll they'll be able to rendezvous with the forces in orbit over Taros. FTL in the Maw is...odd.
Drakador_Chaos
Again, sorry about the lack of previous response.
The voice in the corridors laughs. "Do you really expect me to believe that? I am this starship, the gestalt AI that runs it. Did you really think you could hide who and what you are from me? Tell me what you're really here for and I might help you find it."
The ships scanning the planet find nothing but glassed plains and a ruined ecosystem.

At the moment, looks like things are unfolding between you and Red, I'll leave that alone.

The problem killing the Zerg hatchlings is that the unstable nature of reality in the Maw disrupts the growing psionic connection with the greater hivemind. Mature Zerg don't have much issue with it, maybe they're slightly disoriented, but it's fatal for any hatchlings and colonies you try to start in the Maw. You'd have to find a way around that, but if you could, then you'd have an almost unassailable stronghold to expand from.

The automaton stops and stares at the Zankaran starships before bowing and walking away to allow the ships to lift off.
The dispatched ships make their FTL jump...and emerge over Taros, their goal found at last. On the other side of the planet, sensors can detect the two fleets and their tense standoff. But the true treasure lies aboard the ruined and radioactive remains of the hyperspace gate that allowed the refugees to flee the doom of the Imperium.
