For those of us with too many decal mods, you'll find the game crashes because the maximum size of the atlas is too small. So the title.

A few decal packs or mods with decals have some that are the same, albeit possible differently orientated. It would be nice if mods can have a txt file defining known decals from other mods that are the same so only one sprite will be used. Therefore making them interchangeable.
Lafiel I think, that can be archived using the name of the decal, like if all the mods have the same name for the same decal. Also i think it would be great if all of us, modders, united our efforts and create one awesome decal pack 🙂.
Kroom Yes, exactly. On a note doing changes now will mess up already existing painted ships. As I said numerous times before we need community packs and mod dependencies ASAP. And as I've discussed before we need some sort of modder board / committee that approves changes and warranties the pack's use.
Kroom Lafiel It would probably be benifical, to seperate these decal packs with a few categories, for example: curved, angular, shades, gradients, "decoration". Otherwise things might get quite messy.
I do not know if separated, but at least, named as in vanilla (curved, plain, fade, etc.)
