The spikes began retracting away again. Everything was silent, until the ships systems began lighting up. Engines turned on, warmed up, and the sensor array began spinning. The ship began to slowly turn. Parts of the moss were shot off by the engines. Some of the engines glowed orange, others glowed a strange green.
Then, the FTL drive began spinning. It was charging up. The ship locked on a seemingly random direction. A few seconds passed, but the FTL drive never finished cycling. Then, the drive released a shower of sparks, and shut down. The ship began turning again, but this time, it was aiming for you.
Then the moss began retracting from the back of the ship, and climb it's way to the front. This revealed the ships true hull, a horribly deformed mess of engines, structure and wires, bearing a blue and grey hull. Even now with the windows revealed, you still couldn't see the crew. The inside of the ship was covered in a forest of vines, moss and vegitation. The moss began forming a spire, almost like a long vine, tapering out the end. The ship stopped turning, and was facing your ship head on. It began firing it's engines forward. You had to take action against it, and fast!
