Doge420GoodGuy Well they're not trying to appeal to the viewers, they're looking for money, specifically the corporations that may potentially advertise on their platform. However, they of course want to set up something that they want the companies to see, such as popular celebrities, popular music and generally good 'content' or ad friendly content as they call it.
Of course, the T-series vs Pewdiepie stuff isn't going to be 'ad-friendly'. T-series hosts music videos that are as sexual as legally possible and Pewdiepie is a little.... controversial (don't get me wrong, I like Pewds like the next person). Mr Beast, Shane Dawson and everyone else also fall into the controversial category as well.
The main problem with it was that they were all 'The VIEWERs can control Rewind' and all that, but they didn't fulfil the majority of comments which was to put Pewds in it. Amongst other things, of course.
