I cannot Wait, I must use This For DE Ships, now they will look so much better than a Triangle with a curve on the bottom.
It will be out after Cosmoteer 0.14.5 comes out and depending on how many changes I've to make. Likely some things won't work anymore. There will be some compromises to be made and some features probably won't be available.

I've been pondering about adding escape pods for the later models but as is it seems impossible. First the cockpit would have to be made into many parts. That would cause errors as the cockpit moves into a different location.

kola2134 After Cosmoteer 0.14.5 is out, probably closer to 0.14.6. Currently, 0.14.4 and the 0.14.5 prototypes are too buggy. It's pointless to fix things when it's unclear where the problem is. In its current state it has probably only one logic bug but a bunch of seemingly random & weird game bugs.

sgtsches People have tried and tried that sort of thing, and there simply isn't a good way to do it at the moment. Any method you take will have lots of relatively large flaws
On planet actions are not possible at the moment and won't be for a long time if not ever. It may be possible to fake it by using a large planet as background but you won't have structures or any kind of terrain elevation or other details.
Well, Abh 0.6.0 does have a part to switch between different masses (see wiki for details for higgs_field_singularity_core). It can be used for anchoring or increase kinetic energy (this is a cheat! ). The way things work an already moving ship cannot stop instantly when changing mass. It would have to use instant reverse thrust which basically mean having an infinitely power thruster which in turn can be abused.
Looks like I'll have to abandon the last version from 3 months ago and start from an earlier version. The reason being the differences between 0.14.5 missile prototype 5 and current 0.14.5 RC2. Visually, it's the targeting feature that's the most difference. But there are other problematic issues that are causing a serious crash right now. Can't get it to work with either versions any more. So I think it's best to backtrack to an earlier version.
I might release the last working version for prototype 5 just for demonstration purposes if there's interest.
