cant set off explosive charges or select anything

Hi so I have been trying to make a ship that disconnects with explosive charges but I can't select anything or press ctrl-d to explode things I am not in building mode and i have disconnected all my mods but still have the same problem please i want to destroy my friends ship with a bunch of mosquitos and it wont let me set off the explosive charge

32SYS you need to go into settings > misc and turn off tutorials. Alternatively, hold control and click on the part.

Ultranova you need to go into settings > misc and turn off tutorials

This no longer works. You can just turn off the "Require Ctrl To Select Parts" setting.
