SpaceCat Wider ships are usually the best ships to build upon to be honest, but I like the design.

They can be easily widened and stuffed with thrusters, weaponry and other systems
But the first thing you probably want to do is to get reactors and FTL in there ...
SpaceCat FTL is not all important unless you wanna have it drag its self to the next system. you can easily turn this corvettes/small frigates into support craft by attaching them to a mothership and using explosive charges to detonate the connection point when needed. (that's how I use my bulb corvettes in RP; I just say they detach from the cruisers I have)
