The Third Division is a for-hire security company, founded in 2144, who work intergalactically and for the highest bidder.
They have a strictly-enforced 'shoot first, ask questions later' policy, and make extensive use of super-soldiers ("Agents") and robots in ground combat.
They aren't known to work with other third-parties unless it affects their bottom line in a very good way; rather, they prefer to work for them.
THE LORE
The Third Division specializes in security and military reinforcement. They don't have any big clients under their belt as of yet, but in recent years they've tried expanding beyond their home system, the Andromeda Galaxy.
The Third Division is thriving, however they have gotten increasingly uncaring in their methods of business. Blackmail and espionage, once considered necessary evils at best, are now widely used tactics, a side business to their main services.
The Third Division's leader is Daley Endos, a no-nonsense Marine. After retiring from an almost 20 year military campaign in the more seedy parts of the galaxy, he founded The Third Division to bring order and peace to areas they operate in. In reality, though, he's been killed. His body is being controlled by Atlas, an AI with a hazy agenda. He's human in form, but completely robotic in function.
This is only a brief overview. I'll make a more in-depth lore sometime in the future.
THE SPACESHIPS
The Third Division usually rents out spaceships from other companies and organizations, but they do have a selection of their own.
The TD-SV (Third Division Scout Vessel) is a small vessel used for scouting and cannon fodder. There are two models so far: Model 885 is cheap, but only armed with the MKJ-1 electromagnetic laser blaster.
Model 895 is equipped with two 'Predator' laser blasters, giving it a bit more firepower, as well as going slightly faster than the Model 885 at the cost of being a bit more expensive.
The TD-GNBT-8315 (Third Division Gunboat) is a model currently being decommissioned. It's equipped with eight laser blasters and two electromagnetic laser blasters. However, it's slow and vulnerable from the back and front. It's also completely self-reliant on it's short-lived boost for decent propulsion. The only capacity these models have now are as target practice.
The TD-DN-305 (Third Division Gunboat Dreadnought) is the answer to the TD-GNBT-8315. Equipped with
four electromagnetic laser blasters and two laser blasters, it's slightly less armed to the teeth, but it makes up for it with decent speed, a lower cost-of-use, and better protection.
The TD-SGNBT-9401 (Third Division Sniper Gunboat) is a medium to long-range gunboat platform equipped with a very long railgun. While it functions as a useful support platform, even on it's own, the SGNBT-9401 is infamous for causing incidents during station docking due to it's length and considerably slow turning time.
The Goliath-2 is a slow and expensive ship/cargo carrier. It also functions as the Third Division's mobile HQ. The only real strength? Being covered in 16 thousand tonnes of armor.
THE STORIES
This section will be dedicated to short stories about the Third Division and it's actions. This is so i can establish the kind of faction the Third Division is, as well as fleshing out the faction as a whole.
