So. Formations are very nice addition to game but they have one big flaw.
I'll try to explain it in a example.
So lets have 2 ships.
And I want one ship to follow another, but I dont want it to be in a formation, I want the ship I command to follow second one to see as mission to be always at the place close that ship.

As above i want the little one to just fly by the big one. But the problem is, game think it's a formation so if little one is not in formation the big will just wait for it to get into destination. Yea its kinda annoying if you want just an escort ship that in this scenario I wanna have a wingman to shoot down missiles.
... But that's not the end of problems.

So my wingman manage to approach enemy in a formation. So I command big one to attack the enemy.
But if I tell only one ship to attack the other's (in formation) will engage. So the ship I wanted to sit on the wing just changed it priority to attack enemy ship.
So what is the real problem?
The game have to see the difference as just follow command, so it won't link it into formation.
One ship shouldn't wait for other ship's that are linked as "move/follow" command.
The other solution is to make an option to manage every ship as "worthy to wait" or smth.
For now my desire to make supporting ships very hard to use. I have to manually place them into place in battle or link them when they are strangled in battle.
I think the thing above is understable enough.
The game is great and i want it to be even better!
Cheers!
