A galaxy-wide broadcast is sent out from the High Imperium homeworld of Taros... A smiling woman appears on the screen.
"Factions of the galaxy, I am Tienna Enarius, a shareholder in Celestial Mechanics Shipyards, and I bring you exciting news! While some of you have noticed several scouts around lately, please don't be alarmed. These were merely survey expeditions for the site of our newest and greatest project!"
A graphic plays on the screen, showing a star in the background, with a thin line of starstuff connecting it to what looks like a station. Dozens of ship icons are clustered around the station.
"Celestial Mechanics is proud to present the Star Forge! Using revolutionary technology to manufacturer new ships from raw starstuff, this new facility can make even your most outlandish blueprints a reality! While priority does go to governmental contracts, we will be opening this shipyard to commercial ventures very shortly. Please stay tuned fo-"
The spokeswoman cuts off suddenly, looking off to the side with a worried expression. Weapons fire can then be heard, getting closer. There's a bang like a door slamming inwards, a scream, and a hail of plasma rounds pass by at the edge of the camera. The speaker has gone very pale and starts to rise from her chair to speak, but a man steps into the field of view holding a large pistol and fires. She evaporates in a shower of gore and...other things. Then the man comes more clearly towards the camera, and it's shown that he's wearing a military dress uniform, complete with braids and medals. Except that a good amount of the medals have blood and bits of tissue coating them.
"I am Alhergus Vakorian, and as of today I declare myself to be Dictator of the High Imperium. We are currently in the process of quelling any resistance, and once we have finished, we will bring our holy crusade to the stars, to burn away the plague that has infested Mankind's birthright! We shall tear down the travesty called the Stellar Assembly, and salt and burn the ground where it stood. Mark these days well, xeno scum, for they are among your last."
The transmission terminates, flashing the flag of the Imperium. If the viewers were of the fanciful or superstitious sort, one could say that the main star in the flag almost looks like it casts a shadow outwards...
TAH-DAH! Here it is, the lead-up to the event I've spent two months pulling together! Just as a note, this is not an event in and of itself, this is exactly what it says on the tin, an info broadcast, letting all the heavy hitters and Powers-That-Be know what's going on.
