As of an hour ago, scientists across the universe began to notice large deformations in the shape and contents of the universe. Entire galaxies suddenly dissapear while laws of reality previously thought to be unalterable change in small areas, false vacuums form and erase themselves in mere moments as planets crumble under impossibly powerful forces.

After several days, the universal anomaly ends, no trace of it's previous existence remains. Probes destroyed trying to figure it out are suddenly in their launch bays, people and planets killed wake up completely ignorant of their previous death.
