Welcome to the Unified Planetary Republics! We hope you enjoy your stay.
A Brief History
Originally created as the United Colonial Republics to ensure the survival of the Outer Reach colonies during the destruction of the Valuntrian Empire spurred on by the death (and suspected assassination) of Emperor Titus Valuntrei the Second, the UCR eventually began to expand into the Inner Reach once they had consolidated power over their original territory. Rebranding themselves into the United Planetary Republics as they took absolute power over the Valuntrian Galaxy.
(A more in depth history and description may or may not come in the future.)
The Unified Planetary Republics Navy
(Quick blurb here if I ever get the time.)
Combat Vessels
XF-90 'Canary' Light fighter
Price: Your dignity.
Description: A holdover from the imperial era, and a cruel joke to those who fly it, the XF-90 Canary is essentially the bare minimum of every single standard to the UPRN, however the light frame allows the craft to maneuver effectively around enemy flak/point defense and deliver crippling blows to critical systems with it's AIM-310 'Cobra' Torpedoes.
XF-108-A/XF-108-B 'Manta' Medium Fighter
Price: $88.490/$60,490
Description: Designed by Florence Flightworks for the UCRN during the initial invasion of the Inner Reach, the Manta has achieved a reputation for reliability and survivability, and is just generally a massive improvement over the Canary. With increased hardpoint space and a dedicated shield generator, the XF-108 can effectively engage both other fighters and larger vessels.
Sheridan Class Corvette
Price: $423,450
Description: Another holdover from the Imperial Era, the Sheridan Class Corvette is old, yet still highly regarded by its crews as a decent all rounder and medium endurance combat vessel. Primarily regulated to patrolling star systems with its powerful FTL drive, the Sheridan still sees some use in UPRN flotillas.
Terrence Class Light Cruiser
Price: $1,086,350
Description: The mainline combat vessel of the UPRN as of late, while much smaller in comparison to other cruisers, the Terrence Class still packs quite the punch, and can take as much as it dishes out with a Pratt-Wesley 450 Series Heavy Interlaced Shield System (HISS), and tertiary shielding systems.
Basset Class Artillery Frigate
Price: $315,200
Description: Essentially a cut-down Shenandoah Class Frigate, the Basset Class was designed to take advantage of long range Ion pulse beams to disable enemy vessels (or their shields) from frighteningly long distances, and is an invaluable asset to most UPRN fleets.
Shenandoah Class Missile Frigate
Price: $883,600
Description: Armed with a whopping 48 Basilisk Cruise Missiles, the Shenandoah class can deliver a devastating alpha strike to a target before slipping away before the enemy even notices the ship was in the system in the first place. Lightly shielded and armored, the Shenandoah can't take much punishment, but the sheer speed and usual accompaniment of fellow vessels makes this craft quite hard to bring down. (Gameplay wise it's not as cool as I describe, but imagine, will you?)
Pike Class Carrier
Price: $2,774,100
Description: While not a mainline combat vessel per se, the Pike Class Carrier is capable of launching, maintaining, and repairing numerous fighter wings as well as deploying both 'Stork' and 'Shrike' dropships full of very angry PRMC marines. It also sports 6 heavy Laser Cannons, making it a threat to any enterprising small craft.
Support Craft
XC-80 'Stork' and XC-85 'Shrike' Dropships
(Stork)
(Shrike)
Prices: $48,750/$60,800
Description: While they look quite different, the XC-80 and the XC-85 are actually built with the same components, namely a Pratt-Wesley 50 Series Shield generator and enough room to deliver 16 unlucky souls directly into an enemy craft. The XC-80 and 85s also sport plasma cutting equipment near the front ramp, in order to create their own entrances into the hostile ship. However, the XC-85 is more relegated to diplomatic affairs, given its sleeker look and faster top speed.
XC-450 'Egret' Bulk Cargo Ship
Price: $252,900
Description: While completely unshielded and with a measly armament of two Brenner C-11 Light Energy Cannons, the Egret is often the most important part of the UPR's day to day operations, slinging thousands of tons of supplies in 8 Modular Standard Containers throughout UPR held space.
Civilian/Misc Craft
Mark Two Lifeboat
Price: Inconsequential
Description: Standard on all STSG Chapter-11 Compliant starcraft, the Mark Two is a marked improvement over other, less sophisticated escape pod systems. Being the first in a new generation of expandable-hull design lifeboat that can be compressed into a 1x1 space for easy storage. It even includes ample space for cramming up to 12 personnel into its thinly armored lining, as well as enough rations for 12 months in deep space.
MC-10 Short Range Evacuation Craft
Price: $44,630
Description: While on the outside it seems like the bare minimum for a spaceship (and it is), the MC-10 SREC (S-Wreck, by some crew) actually contains incredibly sophisticated lifesaving equipment, featuring a dedicated surgical compartment, quarantine chamber, airlocks, and even nose mounted cutting implements for rescues that require a little more than a hand torch to get to the patients.
