Singleplayer
Did you know that Bounty Hunter isn't planned to be the final version of single player? It's really more of a placeholder while Walt get's all the different parts and mechanics in. Going off of memory the final version should have quests, factions, resource management, trading, mining, and probably a few other things assuming my memory is working (it usually isn't)
Multiplayer
You can host a game just fine without giving people your IP. If what you want is being able to host a game select server then there isn't really an easy way to do that without your IP. Going off of memory again from chats with Walt and hosting the main server myself while Walt has his down for maintenance, the game has a specific spot it checks for the server list(Same place the game checks for updates). So to have it automatically show your server the IP would have to be added there.
Forum
The forum is a little finicky at times. The software it runs on, Flarum, is still in Beta and definitely needs work. This is one of the reasons why the search bar doesn't like to be helpful and why you can end up with negative notifications. It's also a pain to navigate through new posts without being able to hide a certain tag. We're aware of the issue with mods, the modlist category and now the modlist list are supposed to help with that but they can only do so much. We're hoping that Steam Workshop helps this out, but feel free to offer any suggestions. As for RP I tend to avoid it.
Moderators
I don't know for sure if it is but this feels like it's pointed at me. Lots of things have been lately so I hope you don't mind if I don't want to go into it.
Rivals
I'm not really sure about this one. To me at least the games focus on crew and smart ship design make the game feel unique. I've played a few games like Cosmoteer, Istrolid being one of them, and I feel like it stood out well enough.
Also what do you define as failure in this situation?
