I'm guessing it will probably work as a discount against re-hiring crews on the next ship build or during repairs. after that all you would need is an insurance policy for the ship 😛

this idea would only be useful of there was a way to pick up the pod. not that I am against that...

hutonahill the question is, what advantage does the Escape pod have over having no escape pod?

Money makes no sense. Maybe when missions are added to the game, you get to keep a mission if you ejected an escape pod when the ship was destroyed?

Pros: It gives the player an incentive to have escape pods
Its a mechanism to help keep a mission going

Cons: It doesn't make sense from a lore point of view

Ultranova I think pods make since, you could have them be cheeper then the crew they could save, but the crew still has to get there, and the pod can be broken. it would add a whole other level of complexity to ship design

hutonahill not the pods themselves boi. The reason for pods is either saving on crew (which is dumb) or makes no sense from a lore point of view.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong, I want escape pods as much as the next guy. But I also like it when new parts and features make sense with the overall gameplay and isn't there just for the sake of being there.
