Intro
While yes, Namek and Jbox have done great jobs at making thier tutorials, i would like to throw my hat into the ring.
First i'd like you too look at thier posts since frankly they're very invormative:
Nameks: https://forum.cosmoteer.net/d/6812-guide-basic-roleplaying
JBoxes: https://forum.cosmoteer.net/d/3514-getting-started-with-factions-guide
I will mostly be addresing posting your replies and my oppinions on certain things in the comunity.
These are my preferences and what i've heard of the older Role palyers
Posting Replies
Yes Jbox made great points in his with using headings, lines and other forms of Text editing, so i won't be adressing that, what i willl be adressing however is the form of posting fleets and ships.
- The typical fast posting for example:
Ship
x20
ship
x100
Exc.
Pro's:
-Fast and easy
-You can post different sised ones on mobile*
Con's:
-It's ugly and does not show the actual power of the fleet
-It's Bland and boring
*This can't really be counted as a pro since you technically can do it with everything if you just use the same images
- The Full fleet view one, a good but still not the best way. It would look like this:
Pro's:
-You can get creative with positioning
-Can be posted on mobile but with less control over the size
Con's:
-Can get laggy at times
-May be a little bit spamy
-Must turn on cosmoteer ust to do it
(this is one i used but i've just now decided to use option 3)
- The Partial view, in my oppinion a great form to post.
(Credit to TSon for the image, he made me want to change to this)
Pro's:
-Again, ship placement creativity
-Isn't as laggy as 2
-It's not explicitly shown how many ships are there, allowing for more of a adjustable amount
-Can be posted on mobile but with the same minor con as 2
Con's:
-Must turn on cosmoteer for it.
Tips and oppinions for the last point
Limit yourself and don't over do it, especially with number 1 and 3 since it's just a partial view.
I've seen tons of excuses to use 1:
E: "I'm on my phone and can't acces cosmoteer."
A: Just wait till you get back you do not need to reply fast you need to reply well.
E: "I Don't want to turn on cosmoteer just to do it"
A: Well then you're just not taking it seriously, take your time and put some effort into it.
E: "It would get too laggy for me"
A: Number 3 is perfect for that since it doesn't exactly require a strong PC.
