I'l throw my opinions in here too if you don't mind
jbox1 Off-topic: the off topic section seems to be the core of all salt. Many different people with different opinions clash there, which can bleed into other parts of the community.
That's just the internet no matter what you do that just will stay, it should not lead to bans or kicks it, only if it gets out of hand a warning should be called, or just a simple verbal warning to very loosely try to calm people down.
jbox1 Anime: Many weebs and anti-weebs seem to use the off-topic channel. This frequently causes crashes between the two channels, and can have a huge amount of collateral damage.
Lately anime is just been getting Shat on by other people, though less hate applies when people post thier oppinion on cartoons and tv shows which is nonsense, i personally am not against anime, i even watch it from time to time. Also to the people that want to discuss that stuff and argue:
- Use dm's
- Use group chats
- Or make your own server
Because frankly the other epople in Off topic just want to talk and post random things for fun not hear your argument.
jbox1 Rules: Although I think the rules are fine as is, they might be a little to open. There seems to be enough tolerance to still alow people to get salty, without the ability for mods to intervene.
Yes the rules are a bit too loose but if they were tighter and just more brutal then the comunity would rejoice.
jbox1 Low/No Tolerance Family Friendly Rule: As an experimental rule change, you could enforce a low/no tolerance family friendly (exclusively no gory/sexual/scary content, no swearing, basically a PG rating). Best case scenario: It might be able to enforce a drop in hostility between other users. Worst case scenario: the plan backfires and users become upset at the rule change.
As I said above people would rejoice this would be a really harsh rule for many people, yes there are younger members ut you've gotta think of the fact that most of the kids these days allready do so and the people that just dislike when people swear and stuff those people are not ready for the internet, i mean think about it any game with a chat any site with comments it's all the same just cussing and hate people need to just learn to accept it, and ignore it.
jbox1 Move the off-topic section. The offtopic section seems to contain the worse parts of the community, and I would not be entirely crazy to move it to its own discord server, away from the rest of the community.

Ultranova Taking it away from the server could lead to confusion and mean that off topic chat happens elsewhere in the server.
jbox1 Anime ban. Could just be personal preference, but a lot of the gory/sexual/scary content *is from anime.
This wouldn't exactly help the cause, it would annoy a lot of people and lead to even more problems with the Anti Anime people mocking people that like anime (i'm not gonna use the word weeb bcs that's just a whole nother things it's when people take anime too seriously), so yeah it would lead to mockery and the constant pride of the Anti Anime people for winning the argument to an extent that mods are in thier favour.
jbox1 Split off-topic section: Two off topic sections could help split down opposing parts of the community. It could also allow for internal rules such as one off topic for anime, one for without anime. This way you could avoid clashes in the first place between opposing users.
While this theoredically can help it kills the freedom of speech.
All in all we shouldn't focus on the discord itself and it's flaws but more on the people that make these flaws shine.
