We need a new galactic map

With all these new factions and major faction changes happening the old galactic map https://forum.cosmoteer.net/d/4477-cosmoteer-faction-galaxy-map has become very outdated. It was a cool part of roleplay, being able to base strategy on your position and also to show off what you have gained.

I have a few ideas for the creation and managing of a new faction map.

We can't have anyone make it, we need someone who has skill in making detailed maps, a somewhat unbiased individual who listens to both sides, someone who asks questions before they act, someone that's open minded. So I propose we vote for someone to do this, nothing fancy just a small list.
Let it be more of an update of the old map, instead of a complete remake. Stuff can be moved and removed but lets try and keep it somewhat similar to the original so we know where to start.
Lets maybe have a team work on it instead of a single individual to spilt up the work and to make sure it can't be one sided.
Lets make sure we know what we deserve from rp and such instead of just lore. To keep it fair.
Have fun, its not gonna be perfect so lets use that as space for nonsense. Add a weird anomolly here and there, an unconquerable unknown region, or a giant banana. Its not about perfection, its about results. Because happiness creates happiness.

P.S. Please don't ruin this serious post, if you have beef with me we can handle it later but not here, please.

EpicJp21 Good idea. Though, there are hundreds of factions, both big and small, and no one really talks about where their territories and boundaries are. All people really say are “hey, your by my border”, but where is that border? No offense, but I feel as if this map will be one huge clusterf**k of factions. Don’t even get me started on the different colors of each faction territory...

Wait why a new map yet keeping the same old? Seriously, if you want an interesting map either generate it by random or have an ingenious person design it. The art work can be done by anyone else.

Lafiel To have a base, plus it'll please some already on the map, we can still adjust.

I would have a good map and then just roll the place (coordinate) where someone would be. You aren't born the way you want or where you want. It would be far more interesting to have it decided by random than have it "negotiated" or otherwise decided.

Lafiel Most likely, though the map is about the factions already present and despite not being able to choose where exactly you begin, it would be also unlikely that an entire civilaztion suddenly just moves from one side of the galaxy to the other, as well there are a variety of factions which do not originate from the main galaxy and therefor were able to choose about their location nonetheless.

SnowDoggo They´re not at this point yet, first should be some sort of system and other things...even if it failed numerous times beforehand, after that you can start claiming your territory.

why you want to make a galatic map while factions are all over the universe,alternative universe and even dimensions?
like,if you really want a map that clearly shows all the area each and every faction owns,it would take a long time and would not be updated when it is finished

It's for orientation, navigation purposes and for easing and consistent role playing writing. Even if you got parallel universes the map is not necessarily so different. Changes on small scale like a planet may result in greater differences than on a large scale of a galaxy. Sure the galaxy could be easily different but the changes would have to be further in the past of the universe even if those were by some advanced civilization rather than natural.

we Could use (due to the hundreds of factions) use a similar style that Avorion uses, one massive galaxy, with Sectors, Each sector is massive (and, unlike A orion) maybe have sectors with entire Solar Systems, Even an "Empire" would usually only have maybe 100 Sectors.. (I don't know. how big avorion is, but a map at least double its size) ik this makes 0 sense.. XD

Still don't get the point of this cause like what said there are factions that live in alternate universes and even different dimensions so haveing a complete map of every faction would be near impossible

Jared we wouldn't include other dimensions, just the cosmoteer galaxies, we'd remove dead factions to make room

EpicJp21 Make a discord, so we can discuss it properly, I would like to join, perhaps I could be the artist, and perhaps pulling some strings myself in placements and plans. Since Im slowly joining the RP section of Cosmoteer, and liking it.

Exactly where is that? And remember, the Cosmoteer Universe takes place in the Cosmoteer Galaxy, as it’s kind of an unwritten thing that the Milky Way abd Cosmoteer are separate entities.
