Is there a way to build a ship from scratch?

Nuschler22 you can go into buildmode and try to make your own ship. but the starter ship isn't that shitty to begin with

You have to start with the basic ship. You can move whatever you want around and add things up until you reach the money limit. If you want to do so, then I suggest you keep as many of the original things in the same spot as possible because I don't think the starting blocks are fully reimbursed.

The starter ship is pretty bad, imo. It's the enemies at the beginning of the game that are worse.

Go to creative mode and build just a cockpit, then save the design, and load it in BH mode

I actually just built a single corridor to accomplish the same thing. 🙂

Actually, just use the box selection mode and remove everything if you so desire. It's just more profitable to erase everything except the cockpit and possibly the reactor and crew quarters if you don't mind keeping them in the same place. That's because the original things on the starter ship do not sell for 100% value.
