The Nova Republic Frigate, "Vortex," is ready to do something risky. Its heavy surface turrets aim at the mass that failed to crack the bridge, firing shots that incinerate chunks of the fungal mass. The ship then charges up its Ring Drive, causing a ring-like rip in space to open, and it warps through. However, an error in the coordinates brings it to where the cruiser destroyed the corrupted ship.
