History:
The drive unit that revolutionised an entire universe's way of moving around the cosmos.
The Anhysbys used to rely heavily on Psionics for flight, something that was hugely draining for the Anhysbys.
they ended up having to implant a chunk of metal into their hull, and use their slightly weaker but less draining telekinesis to push the metal around, in doing so causing great pain to themselves for very little propultion.
Around 800,000 years into their development as a species, the first space fairing Anhysbys reached their moon, a huge achievement for their kind, but this also unveiled a huge secret kept from them, presumably for their entire existance.

The data was uninteligeble to them, but it told them all they needed to know, they were a living experiment, presumably into psionics and telekenisis adaptations.
Multiple derelict ships lay nearby, some had broken down entirely over the years.
But, within one of the ships was a large metal box
on it, in text the Anhysbys believed to be their own text
It read: "Eho-Drive"
In reality, this text was not meant to be understandible to Anhysbys. but, they adopted the technology as soon as they worked out how to replicate it.
In total, the fledgeling race had existed for 1.2 million years.
Having adapted to life on an ammonia based sterile world, there was no way to access FTL without this strike of luck.
8 million years pass, great advancements are made in all fields, they became masters of their genetics, able to adapt at will, not needing anywhere to go to make changes.
They created a vast universe spanning Empire, the United Anhysbys Front
Although, the nature of them now having nothing to fight or conquer, meant the factions in control of these clans united through the front, would often collapse into civil war over small grievances.
These so called Stagnation wars lasted around 9 million years, on a scale so unimagineable, many would fail to comprehend even the smallest of them.
The Eho-Drive Mk XLI drove these wars, but due to their nature, they grew stagnant and failed to innovate the drive thurther during this time.
After those 9 million years, ships began popping into various locations of the relatively small universe.
Being around a third the size of usual, and only housing around 12 galaxies, exluding dead ones.
These ships where identified as being from a universe known as the forumverse, little did most Anhysbys know, this was a very long plan by an ancient Anhysbys to end the Stagnation wars, via manipulating another dimention into drawing their attention via the construction of an artificial planet there a million years prior.
Said planet unlocked many secrets of dimentional and FTL travel in a simmilar way to how the Anhysbys started out. The planet is in the STE nebula.
around this time, researchers finally stopped fighting and finished the interuniversal wormhole generator.
An Anhysbys-portable device designed to allow for instant travel between dimentions, however due to its heavy energy usage, it is unable to be used many times in quick sucsession.
Alongside this, minor energy consumption issues where fixed, and the XLVII Eho drive was released.
Details:
works via manipulating space around it, and compressing and expanding space to provide maximum of FTL speed thrust while staying in realspace.
Vast energy improvements enable the drive to be used alongside weapons and shields.
this gives the Anhysbys an edge other Spacefairing races lack, speed and high power weapons.
It is easily detected however, it would come up on sensors designed even to detect interplanetary railgun rounds, due to it being in realspace.
This drive, due to it having sub FTL speeds, is not suceptible to more generic interdiction technology.
