  • Cosmoteer Official Design Contest (Pirates!)

There are many dangers when flying in the Andromeda sector; from the fearsome Void Stalkers to Harakan Scavenger clans so obsessed with making a profit they won't mind throwing perfectly intact ships (and their captains) into their massive scrapyard ships for spare parts. However, no threat is as ruthless or as prevalent than the hundreds of thousands of pirates that roam the sector, attacking anything they deem to be 'easy pickings'. From rogue armies equipped with the latest in paramilitary technology, to small asteroid dwelling scrappers with their junk ships, pirates show no mercy to any ship captain unlucky enough to cross their path.

Deadline to submit ships

Event Format
- Participants can submit their ships by posting in this thread or contacting IVIemories on discord
- A number of finalist ships will be selected by moderators for community voting (based on number submitted)
- Community votes on selected ships to decide contest champion

Guidelines
- Ships should look like something a pirate would use, so please don't show us a shiny new battlecruiser lest we have to take away your pirate license.
- Mods are allowed, but it is recommended to keep to a small selection of mods to keep the theme and color of the ship consistent
- Ships must have functionality in context (e.g A small asteroid with no engines and only weapons/crew could be a pirate outpost). If you wish, you may add a small description of the ship and it's function.

Notes and rules
- There is no budget limit, however moderators will not consider ship size when selecting finalist ships
- Mods are allowed, but you must specify what mods were used and the mod version!
- Both form and functionality will be considered when selecting finalist ships
- Paint and decals are considered when selecting ships
- Please don’t send pixel art ships (What are you trying to do, cute the enemy into submission?)
- One ship per participant
- You are not allowed to change your ships once you have submitted

Just completive question about

Both form and functionality will be considered when selecting finalist ships

How much will be important form and how much funcionality?
Does make just scull and bones decal ship a pirateaship?
Which fairytale is example how should space pirate ship look like?

      Mc2 I've updated the functionality thing to make it a bit more clear, as for the rest - well you'll just have to use your common sense. A pirate ship can be any shape and size but it should make sense within it's own context; the fallen king of an long gone space empire might command his own pirate dreadnought but it's probably a few millennia overdue for it's new coat of paint. Scavengers turned pirate might have ships made of more structure then corridor. Blood cult Marauders are going to have ships that look like.... ships the blood cult would use.

      Anyway, the important thing is that the ships have to make sense and look like you have put some effort into it. Painting one of your existing designs rusty brown and slapping on a few skulls and crossbones is not going to cut it.

          IVIemories I am a stupid person to ask this but is this a PVP/PVE tournament that fights other people or is it just like less functionality and focused on aesthetic designing?

              DeletedAccount This is a purely design tournament. Functionality just means 'this ship actually works as a ship'

              The rewards for this is different from the rewards for the PvP tournament.

                      IVIemories She's an Oldie, but a Goldie. She Comes from my First Faction, just a couple months before they died out... By my own action... But alas, If you're looking for a Pirate ship in space, look no further than...

                      The Ship operated as a Dreadnought for the Carnivore Pirate Guild, Created with the:

                      • Body of a Cerberus
                      • Wings of a Crescent Wraith

                      And the Rear of one ship from another one of my Factions that are still alive, Domini Naturae's Photon Decimator.
                      (Hey, If it' ain't broken, mash it with other things that aren't and hope that ain't broken!)

                      It also features a compliment of Two Suicide Bombers, Two Salvion Battleships, and two Prime Omega Fighters attached to the Battleships. This Killer Compliment turns the ship into a fleet in combat, one that is nearly impossible to defeat. (The Ship Lacks Explosive Charges because I made it before the Update. As for the Cleanliness of the Ship, The Carnivores had a massive underground Presence, which gave them the capabilities of making such a beautiful ship.)

                        Presenting The Mulcher. Used by a faction that died out a millenium ago, A Pirate gang, called the Bearded Boar, reused the design to take on lightly defended targets. However, the Pirate Gang soon found out that it wasn't good against properly armored and gunned ships.

                        (The Ship is supposed to be some sort of Gun boat, lasting long and hitting hard with multiple weapons.)

                          A small pirate support capable of becoming a sniper,and a broadsider making a good addition of a fleet,mainly used for hunting down targets that killed other pirates hence the name pirate avenger,best used in fleets.

                            Just a heads up, if there is no description or the description is not in universe cough Sombreroman cough then I'm going to take some creative liberties and add or modify the description myself.

                            Unless you don't want me to, in which case please tell me.

                              This ship although not very curvy or fancy is the prized flagship of the pirate group AMALCA, she has been in many skirmishes sometimes being heavily outnumbered. She has always managed to fight her way towards victory or if needed make a hasty retreat.
                              The motto of her crew is "Brute Force'

                                  My ability to give ships descriptions is even worse than my ability to name them, the most I can come up with is that this is probably what you would get if scavengers stitched some ship parts together. I also have a logical reason for the fact that the part with the railgun is so clean looking, it is because railguns are relatively new, so the part with the railgun would be new aswell.

                                      Nothing says more "Piracy" to me than this small cute ship.

                                      Fast. Underpowered. Squishy. But certainly accessible at any pirate port! You can use swarms of these just to rob bigger ships to build your new pirate empire.

                                          you can,as long as the thing can do proper function(ie move and somewhat fight) then it qualified
